If it were up to me, I'd dump cable. So much available on Netflix and Amazon. And other places, too. But I do need internet.
But Eric watches a bunch of stuff on cable. So I'm pretty sure we'll be keeping the cable for now.
But I've been watching a bit of this and that. Really enjoying Downton Abbey, I know I'm late to the party, I think it's been on for six or seven years.
Huh. Just checked. Eight.
Over the weekend, we watched The Greatest Showman. I didn't hate it. I just didn't love it the way so many people did. The acting was fine. The costumes and cast and all that. But I didn't love the music the way everyone else seems to. I didn't get the urge to run out and buy it.
Actually I watched it. Eric couldn't finish watching it. I put it in the dvd player in the momcave and watched the rest.
I'd invested enough time in it that I figured I needed to finish.
Like I said, I didn't love it.

And it's been more than three months since I first ended up with hives.
Something bit me on the top of my left foot while I was sleeping near the end of July. It ITCHED for nine damn days. Not a mild itch, but a deep down horrible itch that drove me insane for the whole time.
I rubbed Benadryl on, cortisone cream, tried not to scratch the damn thing. I looked at it with a magnifying glass and couldn't tell anything from it.
But it was about 11 days or so before I started getting hives. Big huge lumpy welts on my stomach. And my sides. My lips swelled a couple times, looked like someone had pumped them up with a bicycle pump. More Benadryl.
I've been getting the hives and lip swelling and more hives. Sometimes I manage to go three or four days without my stomach or lip swelling up.
Yes, I talked to my doctor about it. She was less than helpful. I'm going to have to go back and demand to be sent to an allergy specialist.
Goddammit I hate complications.
So speaking of hives, my stomach is itching.
Time for Excedrin PM, which also contains
diphenhydramine just like Benadryl. And helps me sleep. Like a brick.
Ugh.
Last time I had a mystery allergic reaction, the doctor had me take both Zyrtec and Zantac. The typical histamine blockers for seasonal allergies block the H-1 type. Zantac and other proton-pump inhibitors work on the H-2 histamine molecule. So I took those plus the occasional Benadryl (makes me sleepy). and it knocked it right out. and since they are over the counter, I can grab them anywhere, anytime, rather than pharmacy hours.
ReplyDeleteI am at the end of my rope with this. It's driving me insane(r).
DeleteI take a proton pump inhibitor already.
::sigh::
I used to get hives all the time before I knew I had celiac. My sister got them and when she found she was gluten intolerant she ate differently and they stopped. They are a royal P.I.A! I was taking so much over the counter garbage I am certain I was hurting myself in other ways. I got them on the top of my head to my toes. I am so sorry to hear you dealing with this. It sucks. I hope you find the cause and solution soon!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely tired of it. And I have kept logs of food. Nothing makes sense. No new soaps or laundry products. Frustrating.
