Same Song, 200th verse

I'm okay. You're probably fine, too.
I just have a headache.

So instead of trying to be coherent I will just put this itty bitty post here to mark my place.

Kids have been gone a week visiting my parents, will be home tomorrow, which is today as this posts.

It's strange to have the house all to myself for six hours a day or so. I can walk to the laundry room after my shower and find clean clothes without anyone being embarrassed, although bare assed is there somewhere.

The other night I was still up at midnight. I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard a scraping sound on the barrier under the front door. It was the same fucking possum who starred in Playing Possum. He came in, looked RIGHT AT ME, smiled evilly and headed for the kitchen.

And in a huge wash of deja vu-ishness, (love making up words) I started yelling for Eric. And eventually he came out of the bedroom in his tighty whities (they were actually black) and looked all over for the little fucker who was eventually located (after about 15 minutes of searching, swearing, searching and more swearing) hiding behind the paper shredder under the kitchen table.

There was a chase. Possum apparently wanted to do some laundry, so went to the laundry room, where he was sidetracked by a case of beer. He hid behind that in a space about large enough for a toothpick, and Eric chased him out of there... back to the kitchen via the scenic route behind the washer, the dryer, and under the hamper.

We'd blocked off the routes he might take here and there and here and there, and left only the route to the front door clear. He had no choice. Went out the front door... chased by a good looking man who was waving his arms and screaming (I am not kidding here...) "BOOGA BOOGA BOOGAAAAAAA!"

And now, we're being held hostage in our house by a possum, because Eric hasn't had time to fix a possum proof addition to the underside of our front security screen. We've had the door up for about 10 years, and this is the first time we've ever had any problems, but once a week is just too often if you ask me, so the front door remains closed.

So I am going to take my headache to bed, hope that the pain eventually goes away (nausea gone at least) and mark time until 7 AM when I can take the migraine meds again. :::sigh:::

  1. Do you think if you threaten to have someone come out and fix that door, it might get fixed? It's worth a try! Sure beats chasing possums.

    1. Naw, he's really good at getting stuff done around here. He seriously hasn't had time to mess with it (he's not a jury-rig kind of guy, has to do it 'right'). He went to Lowe's yesterday and bought the things he'll need, so I am guessing it's today's project.

Fun. More swearing. But he'll probably be dressed. :)

    Sorry. That's all I've got.

Oh, except for the headache. I hope it goes/went away quickly.

    1. Hormones suck.

Right now, though, no pain. So hey, keep sending good wishes, maybe that will work, nothing else has!!

  3. I dare say...I could picture it all ;0) LOL at you both in your Kodak moments.
Have had skunks enter....but we stopped breathing and held our two little dogs at the time YAPS SHUT til they ventured back out.
Damn Ami.....what the hell can be causing your H/A's in various forms? I know you have talked in length about them, but if a doctor was suffering in some capacity daily, I think they'd find a cure.
    NOT FAIR!

    1. Headaches and Hormones. Two H words that have become profane in my lexicon. I feel good today. My doctor knows about the headaches, and we are monitoring it for changes, but really, they haven't changed except in frequency, something that happened to my grandmother, then my mom when they were nearing menopause. Dr. Dirtball says it's actually fairly common, and that most women with hormonal headaches stop having them after the mythical dry up. Ha, I invented a new phrase for menopause. THE MYTHICAL DRY-UP. I like it!!

  4. Shelter, food, clean clothes, beer. The little guy knows a food thing when he sees it!

    Is he a Boomerang Kid?

  5. That's good! Why is he so attracted to your house? You got some good munchies for him in there?

It is strange having no kids in the house. Nice that the are visiting your folks tho.

    1. We can't figure out what he might be interested in. We have no food out, we no longer have a dog, there's no teeny little possum singles bar anywhere that we're aware of...

I'm glad they went to visit my dad and mom, it's an annual thing. But certain stuff this time may have put an end to the tradition.

  6. Came in late at night uninvited. Thought about doing laundry, but got sidetracked by beer. Well, at least you know it's a male possum.

  7. Sorry. Still getting the image of Eric screaming BOOGHA in his tighty blackies trying to get the possum out. Only thing funnier would be Tony in his boxer briefs wielding a shovel to get rid of a mouse. :)

Ah, these men keep us quite entertained, no?

    1. Extremely entertaining. :)
Our door new has a lovely metal possum barrier/ We hope it means that we won't have a possum in our house anymore. This afternoon, while messing around in the corner of the living room, I found possum shit.

Evidently he's been here a few times. It was dry and not stinky (well I didn't put it up by my nose) and I was crabby upon finding it.

      Little bastard.

    2. So the possum was sidetracked by a case of beer...

      I understand entirely.

I do want you to know, however, that I've entertained the company of several young ladies in my time who have also been sidetracked by a case of beer. Or less.

      Ah, memories...

    3. You should blog about those memories. :)

    1. Definitely feeling better. Heard the possum scraping at the door last night. He did not get in. Eric fixed the door.

  9. What are possums afraid of? Owls, maybe? What if you put a ceramic or plastic owl (or other menacing creature) where the possum could see it and think twice about coming in?

    1. Possums are afraid of men in black underwear who run at them screaming, "Booga booga booga!!"

And they're stymied when they come to their usual entrance, only to find it blocked by a piece of metal that covers the entire bottom of the screen.

No more possum muffins on my carpet.
