Remember the AARC? I am glad we have learned and can do better, but wow. I had a brother with some special needs and that word was tossed around a lot at school. He didn't seem to hear it much, but I did. I didn't even know it was a thing to be angry about, he was just my brother. Lots of therapy and other things helped him grow mostly okay.
I can't believe they were just normal. Ho hum. Sometimes I feel like we've made no progress as a society and then I see something like this and think, well maybe a little.
I remember some of these too.

DeleteOh dear. Oh dear. Words do change their meanings over time, don't they.

DeleteI remember AYDS diet candy. As soon as AIDS hit, the brand vanished overnight. I don’t recall any of these commercials tho!
ReplyDeleteWe had boxes and boxes of Ayds in our cupboard. My favorite were the chocolate caramel. No, I didn't need to lose weight, I just liked candy. LOL
DeleteCommercials are a slice of life showing how attitudes have changed, hopefully for the better.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a glimpse of how our thinking has changed over the years.
