I have several friends who are leaving FB.
There are a few of them I've been talking to online for 24 years. No, not a typo. We 'met' in the homeschooling chat on AOHell and have been catching up with each other at least once a week since then. I actually met one of them in person several years ago.
But we didn't want to lose touch. We've been chatting on FB since AOHell closed their communities and it was important to us to keep up with our friends.
We've watched each other's won't-they-be-socially-awkward-what-about-the-prom-how-will-they-learn-to-wait-in-line-well-I-want-someone-to-offer-my-kid-drugs-so-they-learn-how-to-say-no homeschooled kids grow up, get married, have babies.
(Yes, people actually said those things to me. Those and a lot more. Sometimes people aren't very bright.)
So we've moved our chat to discord.

I like chat, it's usually entertaining.
It's another addiction.
My daughter and my son both are on discord, too. So we've been sharing a lot of memes.

I just signed up for Bluesky, I don't think I have it in me for another social media site. LOL Those meme's are funny.
ReplyDeleteDiscord is mainly a chat platform, video chats are available there, a lot of people use it for gaming, too. I signed up for bluesky but haven't really checked it out yet. I was on twitter before the fucking twit took over, but left about two weeks before he took over and started running it into the ground.

DeleteI have a couple folks I follow on Instagram. A few others on Threads. Some groups on FB. My youngest prefers to contact me via snapchat. Joined Bluesky last week. Shall look into Discord now. So many options!
