Up and down and up and down

Like a fucking pogo stick. Still don't know where they're going to relocate my program... or if they even are. Now it's a possibility that we're going to stay crammed into the music room. It's not easy, in case you wondered. I packed up a lot of my program thinking we were moving only to find us NOT moving while they dither around with 'will there be a 3rd K class or not'.

No one answers emails. I move alllll the things I've packed OUT into the hallway every afternoon so that we have room for kids and toys and fun. And after they all go home, I move it all back in and situate it against the end wall of the classroom. We don't have our bulletin boards, we don't have tables, we don't have SPACE.

So nothing new to report on that. Frustration level is a little higher than I'd like, but can't do anything about it. So as long as the weather holds, we get outside for about an hour in the afternoons for snacks and running around.

3rd week of school.

I have 18 kids. The usual crop of unintentionally hilarious really short people (K), a few mediums and the 'bigs' (4th/5th grade) and one with raging ADHD.
He's a nice kid.
Full of energy.
Accustomed to getting away with a lot of crap, so he's not so thrilled with me 'cause I make him behave.

I think he'll do okay, he's just going to have to work at it. I'm working to be nice, to explain why I don't want him to kick a ball in the classroom/jump over the little kids/throw toys/break my stuff.

"Do I come to your house and break your toys?"

:::sigh:::

In other news, I am still doing painting tutorials and having fun with that.

Here's the latest. It's on a 12x14 canvas, now I've ordered a few even larger ones, I didn't think I'd like painting on the bigger canvas, but I was wrong.

  1. That's an awesome painting. A striking concept and arrestingly realized.

    1. It was really enjoyable to paint it. This is one I want to paint again. I will make a few color variations, I think. Thank you for the positive feedback. I never thought of myself as an artist.

  2. You are so incredibly talented. Are you selling any of your cards or art somewhere?

    1. Naw, I just give them away. This one is spoken for, though.
It's really a wonderful creative outlet. I'm considering some of Michelle the Painter's 'cookies and canvas' series for 'my' kids. I think they'd enjoy painting. That is, if I ever get a space for my program where we CAN paint. Sheesh.

PS... I sent you a hand painted card toward the end of July. Guessing you didn't get it?

  3. I love this painting.
    Why?
I think I love it, because it makes me think.
And not just about dandelions, but about life, tenacity, loss, death, etc.
Thank you for making me think.
And not just with words, but with a stark visual element.

    1. Thank you. :) It's a painting tutorial, I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. But it was fun to create and I am happy with it.
