About 4.

After the car repairs (which will be done in November, between parts availability and the repair place being short staffed that's the time they gave me) and the medical bill from having my doctor make sure I didn't have a concussion or anything else going on and the rental car (s), it's going to be in the neighborhood of about four grand for my little fender bender.

None of that is my responsibility, my insurance is paying for everything. They have to since the person who hit me, whether she's honest about the issue with her coverage or not, did not have an 'insurance policy in force' at the time of the accident and is officially an uninsured driver.

That does lower my deductible, though. It was $250, it gets reduced by $50 because she didn't have a policy in force.

Not that it matters, she's liable for the deductible as well.
My insurance will cover me and all the damages and I won't have to pay anything out. They told me this evening that any out of pocket expenses will be paid to me first, then they cover the bills. Again, that's why I carry good insurance. I have been with State Farm for more than 40 years.

Here's something, though. The other driver wants to talk to me.
Now I can't imagine that we have anything to discuss, and she knows it's all been turned over to my insurer, but she texted me and asked.

I also happen to know that my insurance has spoken to her and that she has told them she is responsible for the bills, so ??
::shrug:::

I will talk to her, but I won't be changing how any of this is being dealt with.
I don't hold ill will toward her.
Shit happens.

I have no problem hanging up the phone and blocking her number, either.

In other news, they are hiring another K teacher at our school, meaning that I won't get the empty classroom I was hoping for. Instead, they're going to have me sharing a space with the reading specialist.

I would prefer to stay where I am since I already share a space and moving all the stuff I have for my program is going to be a gigantic pain in the ass, but apparently no one really cares what I want. I came up with a plan to move a good deal of my program into the empty cabinets in the hallway, and with new carts and an ability to organize things better, I know we could make it work.

But the music room is also crowded for the teacher. She's been very nice and even supported the idea of me staying there, but she really needs the room, too. There are things stacked all over the place, drums and music books and boxes and papers. She needs me out of there.

The school knows how much space I'm going to need for stuff, I sure hope we can figure out a way to get my program (FINALLY) running the way it needs to. I realize that to most people, it's just day care.

And that's true, but having a program that's somewhere close to my usual standards would be nice. I decided a long time ago that if kids must be in day care they should be with someone who actually cares. I work hard to provide a variety of things for them to do and separate program spaces to do those things. Right now I have a game cart, some open ended art activities and on the big rug, dollhouses. We have a bunch, with furniture and dolls and cars and various things to go with all of that.

I haven't been able to put out the manipulative activities like pattern blocks, the magnet tiles, the marble runs. I have not opened the bin of red plastic cups yet this year, either. We simply don't have the space to do those things.

I have a couple of what my employer euphemistically calls 'high flyers' and they need more. Especially now that the weather is going to be changing and we're going to be cooped up indoors more.

One of them has a great deal going on in his head. He can't keep his hands off other people and when he's not getting enough reaction, he escalates. He's not an easy kid, but he's worth working with. I would like to see him succeed. The chances of him doing so are much better once I have a bigger variety of things for him to choose from.

There are not enough activities being offered to the kids and there isn't room for them to not be in each other's faces and spaces. I will be happy to finally unpack the things I purchased to make my program better and I hope it's soon.

They haven't given me a moving date yet, though.

I'm seriously tired of moving. This will be the 7th time I've had to move my program since 2016. It does not become any more fun, in case you wondered.

Okay, I am trying to make myself go to bed a little earlier  at night so I can get up and do something before it's time to take off for work. Dishes, laundry... something.

It's almost 10 and it's that time.

  1. You need to tell her she needs to pay you the $200.

    1. My insurance will make sure I get it. I'm not telling her anything.

  2. Small piece of advice. Discuss talking with the driver that hit you with your insurance company first.

    1. She didn't call me when she said she was going to. I'm inclined to stop answering her texts now.

I would also only talk to her with another person on the line, or her agreeing to have you record the conversation.

    3. She just never called. I have no idea what she wanted. I did not get the impression that she wasn't going to stand up and take responsibility and I didn't feel like she was going to try to do anything shady, either. But it doesn't matter, I am just not going to answer future contact if there is any.
