I actually love most music, and have been singing since I was really little.
My mom tells me that I could carry a tune when I was three.
Christmas songs are some of my favorites, I listen to them in the car while I'm out and about. I have some CDs I made, too. I like some of the things from Mannheim Steamroller, but some of their compositions are jarring and ruin the mood for me.
So I've gone through their CDs and taken just the stuff I like and made my own holiday set.
Christmas Karaoke is another thing that never fails to make me smile, so I have one of those in the car, too.
I have a list of songs that have been turned into confusing strings of words. I'm pretty sure it's here on my blog somewhere but I'm too lazy to look. I thought it would be fun to post the list again and see if you all can figure them out.

I've never been into Christmas music. For some strange reason I find almost all of it to be sad and it depresses me like crazy. I never said I was normal though. lol
ReplyDeleteI have an emotional response to most music. Some more than others, but it touches my heart. I love Christmas music so much... but NOT the 'every star must make an album for the season' stuff. That's usually butchered into something disgusting and ugly.
DeleteSome of us can't sing. 3rd grade, rehearsing for the Christmas program, I was singing my little heart out. Quickly, I became a Shepherd.

DeleteSinging has always been a great source of joy for me except for when I moved to Colorado and met the world's 2nd biggest asshole music teacher... but that's in the past. :-D
I really enjoyed figuring out the songs! It made me think, which brought tunes to my mind. I've always sung okay, and enjoy Christmas songs and a variety of other music genres, too.
ReplyDeleteExcept when I'm depressed. Just when you need cheering up, the things that once gave you great joy now bring you further down. It's very painful for someone who plays 2 instruments and has always sung with others. And for many, many years.
I've played piano since I was about 3 years old, but not now. Depression really sucks and holidays seem to worsen it for many people.
Christmas will be gone before I know it, and that's both good and bad. It will be over, but I will have missed it yet again.
Depression is hard. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I will hope that things brighten up.

ReplyDeleteMy great grandfather used 'masticating' in his book. One of my cousins thought he'd used a 'bad word'. Haha
DeleteI can sorta understand that. Hey, your great-grandfather had a book published! Wow.
DeleteMy great grandfather decided to write his memoirs for the family when he was 88. He went to college and took creative writing with a bunch of teenagers. The book is in longhand, he had a bookbinder make something like 50 copies. I will try to remember to post a pic of one or two pages.
DeleteWell, my goodness! At 88 and in longhand, I think he deserves a hand - actually a big round of applause. I don't why I'm still amazed at the tenacity of people, but I am. I am amazed he took the college courses.

DeleteYeah I don't like most of the newer stuff and I really hate it when the Pop Tart of the week decides to take a classic and ruin it. Blech. My all-time favorite is The Carpenters Christmas Portrait.
