I'm fine.
How are you?
I got up for work on Monday morning, did the usual shower and all that stuff, and grabbed a sweatshirt off the back of my chair on my way through the kitchen.
I turned on my left leg to grab my keys and there was this.. pop behind my knee.
It hurt, but not in a debilitating way, so I headed out the door.
Drove to my school, a commute of about six minutes. When I got out of my car, I almost couldn't walk. My knee hurt SO MUCH in the back! Oh my goodness. I walked very slowly into the building and to my little room. Where I sat on one of the wheeled chairs the entire morning.
When I returned in the afternoon, I brought my cane.
On Tuesday, I was still using the little wheeled chairs to scoot around the room a bit. Set out a project, some Goldfish and little orange slices in juice at the snack table, got out the LEGO rug and the book cart.
Our custodian had done the floors in there during the day, so I was paying close attention to the mess around the snack table. When Hayden dropped one of his crackers on the floor, I wheeled over to grab it.
Leaned forward in my chair, the chair tipped all the way forward and dumped me on the floor.
There was a collective gasp from the kids.
A lot of, "Are you okay?!?!"
I was. Except for the pinkie on my left hand. Not sure how I managed it, but I broke a blood vessel in the knuckle so it got ugly and discolored right away. But I was fine. No residual soreness. I was able to get right up, too.
Bizarre.
As I write this on Thursday night, my knee feels a lot better, too. I was able to dispense with the cane today. I told Eric last week that something felt funny in the back of my knee, too. I have had a cyst inside there once before. It was taken care of during one of the knee surgeries. I'm wondering if that's what was going on this time, too.

There is a ton of stuff going on work-wise.
I'm pleased to announce that because of Fluffy's meddling and the avalanche of support from my families, my program will be running year-round starting this coming school year.
No more traveling to crazy and out-of-control sites, I'll be running things MY way at MY site.
We have a new contract with the school district.
I keep meaning to actually catch you up, but then I have this training or that in the evening to go to (finally done with those thank goodness) and then other shit going on... so yeah.

ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see the look on her face when she finds out. Maybe she already has, who knows? Also, Fluffy's Morally Bankrupt Day Care is going to be running a summer program directly across the street from my house at the new school. I will keep an eye on things as I can with the intention of reporting everything I see that isn't right... like playground rules not being observed.
DeleteI am really excited to run programs from my location. I have enough things to run a bigger program and have done so in the past.
My company did a slick advertising flier and made sure to include the fact that WE have a sliding scale for payment, something FMBDC can't offer.
So Fluffy's attempts to dislodge your program just entrenched you future at that school. Oh, this is going to piss her off (good!)

My knee is wrecked thanks to work comp, so it's not ever going to be *ok*, but whatever happened on Monday seems to have faded away and I'm back to my normal pain levels.
DeleteI am really happy things turned out the way they did, although I hate Fluffy and wish her hemorrhoids the size of bowling balls, mostly just glad to be able to run things my way in my space.
I've worked hard to make it what it is, and built amazing relationships with my kids, their families and the school staff.
I like being where I am.

It's possible to damage my knee worse than it is now, but not much more damage is possible. Been walking around with zero cartilage since 2009. Not fun. Do not recommend.
DeleteAnd I'm so, so happy to find out just how much support I have. Sometimes I start to feel like I'm out on some island somewhere... all alone.

But I don't.
Kids who enter Fluffy's program will most likely only do so if there is not enough room in your program...you will soon have a waiting list of parents eager to pull their kids from Fluffy...that will tear her to pieces.

DeleteI have been told that we will not have a waiting list, that I'll have help if I need it. My office has been super supportive through all this, I'm astounded by the way everyone has gotten behind me.
And I would love to see the look on Fluffy's face when she finds out that her meddling has caused us to be able to run year-round at my site.
I have osteoarthritis in my knee's so I hate when they hurt. Things have been crazy here. Lots of family drama going on so I've been keeping busy.

DeleteI have arthritis and of course there was the failed surgery. My knees could be worse.. but not a lot worse.
