Remember Stevie, my little elf with the shiner?
When I took the elf pictures, Stevie was the K age boy whose left eye was quite colorful.
He crashed into his toy box about 10 days ago and bit the hell out of his lip. Seems to be recovering. It didn't help contribute to my ability to understand his speaking voice, though.
He has this charming little boy voice and isn't always easy to understand.
He often asks me how to spell things, I write words for him on a piece of paper and he takes them back to whatever he's working on. It's important to him to spell things correctly.
He came to me this morning and said, "How do you spell Polish Breasts?"
Sure I'd heard him wrong because of the ambient noise, I leaned down so I could hear him better.
"What, Buddy?"
"Polish Breasts," he said carefully, right into my ear.
I knew that had to be wrong. I can see it coming from a bigger kid, but that would mean the kid would be off in the corner snickering with his friends, not asking me how to spell.
So I asked him, "What does that mean? What is it?"
He looked earnestly at me. "It's that Christmas movie with the train!"
Oh.
Polar Express.
I love my job.
