Ah.. maybe not. They do work. They're actually sort of creepy. But in doing a little research on Amazon and eBay, there is such a broad range in prices that I wouldn't make enough to pay for the pain in the ass. So good news.. the kids will be able to play with and enjoy the babies the way I intended. :)
In other news...
Our manager* exempted three of us from today's training. For someone with the educratic leanings she has, that's a big deal. From my conversations with Sunshine, I already knew several days ago that I wasn't going to be forced to attend, but did not get official notice until Wednesday evening when my manager texted me.
*It occurred to me that I haven't given her a name yet. She's sort of a Barbara. Let's go with that, shall we?
So I won't be sitting in a room with a bunch of people all day long. I won't be going over the same stuff I've learned/done for the past eleven years.
It will be a bit awkward to see the other site directors this coming week. We were asked to sort of keep it to ourselves, just not show up. So at Thursday's training, while we were all packing up to leave, everyone was saying, 'see ya Saturday'. And I was answering, "Yeah, see you later."
I'd kinda like to be there to see how Barbara handles their questions and comments. It's actually sort of a courageous move, she has to know that they're going to ask and that people are going to be pissed off that they had to be there and we didn't.
But it truly is a waste of the company's money to pay us to sit there for the whole day when we could probably teach the entire class. And with more enthusiasm and expertise, considering we're the ones actually doing the job.
Anyway. Matt's coming over. I have to get showered and decent. And eat something.

What am I doing? Sitting around waiting for a response from someone who is to fix my computer. She needs the money. Fuck it, Monday the computer goes to the professionals. Another no good deed goes unpunished.

I have had nice results with my current little laptop, but last year our company decided that buying HP computers to replace our reliable little Dell computers was a 'bargain'. It ain't a bargain if it's a piece of shit. No matter how much money they "saved". And tech 'support'? Hollow laugh.
DeleteToday, I spent time with my niece and nephew. My brother's kids. He lives in Wyoming but the kids live in Portland with their mom. I love them but.....honestly? I don't like them. They are SO much like their mother, who is not pleasant. They need counseling,but their mom thinks a 12 yr old making graphic sexual jokes is totally normal. My brother takes them to a counselor when he has them but a visit every 6 months isn't going to help much. So......THAT'S what I did today, spent time with my niece and nephew and tried to enjoy them all the while biting my tongue and protecting my own kids from their cousins.

Went to the gym, cleaned house for a bit, showered, made copies of receipts for tax time (college deductions), and now sitting on my bum, intending to type my notes for class......you see how that is working :-)
ReplyDeleteI did two classes for my requisite training hours for fall. Took me a few hours to complete them, but now all I have to do is wait for my certificates to prove I learned something.
DeleteI also wrote an email to the place who provided the coursework and suggested they need a practical guide on stocking, opening and staffing a day care.
