Today is my husband's birthday.
He is 52 years old.
We have been together 35 years.
If you were to ponder it, you might say, "Hm, that's a long time for two people to be together, considering he was 16 when you two started dating."
You would be correct.
It's amazing to me that we're still together after all this time, except that very early in our relationship, we committed to each other 100%. We learned that standing together was the best thing in the universe.
That foundation we started building back when we were both teenagers and didn't know shit about the world... still there.
We don't do a lot to celebrate birthdays anymore, for either one of us.
But wow, I sure do love this guy. :)
Yep, that's a good way to make him smile! Tell him Happy Birthday, from me!

ReplyDeleteThe photo is a couple or four years old. We always tease Eric because he doesn't smile for photos. He gets this weird sort of grimace, says, "I AM smiling!!" and that's that. So when we posed for the photo, I said, "I know how to make you smile..."

My partner Ed turned 83 on Feb. 24th & I made him smile too.
