Treats

I was the recipient of a couple Amazon gift cards recently.
Spent them both on art supplies.

I bought a set of colored graphite pencils from Derwent that are really amazing. You can shade with them as you would do with traditional graphite, they smudge with a blending stick. You can color with them and leave them as is. You can add a bit of water on a brush and the color that's embedded in the graphite miraculously brightens up and pops. They're really cool. They aren't something I would ordinarily spend money on, either. And usually when I get gift cards or extra money, I spend it on practical things.

I also bought a set of watercolor pencils from the same manufacturer. They're gorgeous in the case... haven't opened them yet, they just arrived today.

Now I have to actually spend some time drawing. I am on the lookout for a specific type of desk to put in the living room so I can sit in there with my man and draw while he watches television.

We're officially old farts. About to live in a house with no children for the first time in over 27 years. I figured we ought to spend a little time together in the evenings. :)

I kept missing the UPS guy last week or the week before, can't remember. I finally figured out that I should have my items shipped to the school. There's always someone there to sign for the package.

The kids have been pretty wild. It finally occurred to me this afternoon that DUHHHHH it's HALLOWEEN!!! So that's why they're so wild. They're excited.

I left work early today. Had my 2nd person close for me, she needs a few extra hours and Matt was here. I like having a little extra time in the evenings to sit here and draw, write, pay bills and just... relax.

My job isn't horribly strenuous, but of course there's the knee. I think because my body is constantly trying to heal itself and failing, it makes me tired. I don't know how much weight I've lost since the beginning of May, but it's definitely noticeable now. It has helped me a lot with the inflammation in other areas of my body/joints, but hasn't done shit for the knee that has nothing but bone in it. Ah well.

I'm going to post this, get a shower, and then sit here and draw until bedtime. At 9. And tomorrow's FRIDAYYYYYYYY!

Also. Happy Anniversary today to my good friends Tami and Joseph.
They're relatively newlyweds, they've only been married 32 years, but it seems to be working out so far. I think they're going to manage to stay together. :)

Eric and I have an anniversary on Saturday. We won't be doing anything special to celebrate on Saturday, but we do have a trip to the coast planned in the spring sometime.

  1. Do you know about UPS's My Choice? You sign up for the service and you can schedule when and where you want your packages delivered even if you aren't who sent them. Lucky you! My ailments only seem to make me fat. Click on my name to see my new blog.

    1. I did not know about the UPS thing. I should look into it for summer. Having them sent to the school is sort of fun, because when I walk into work in the afternoon, there are sometimes surprises waiting for me in the office.

I have been eating carefully since the end of April. I do not use scales, so I can't tell you how much has disappeared, but the pants I bought at Goodwill yesterday are the smallest ones I've worn in about 15 years.

I figure when I have reached the size I want to be, I might get on a scale to see how I've done, but I might not, too.

It drives the people at my doctor's office crazy when I refuse to weigh.

    1. Thank you. :) I have been posting a little late, too. Posting when I get around to it. Trying not to miss any days, but life's busy.

  3. Did you know that Halloween is the halfway point between Fall and Winter? Well, NOAA scientists have pointed out that this year the actual point is Nov. 7. It's a slippery slope from then on to cold-dom.

Anyway, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Happy Halloween - We are leaving the front porch light out again this year. No cute little beggars in costumes for us.

    1. We don't hand out candy, either. It's not a curmudgeon thing (although my dislike of children is well-known... haha) but a matter of convenience. We have a subdivision nearby where all the little ghouls and goblins go.. door to door to door all conveniently close together. I am pretty sure that even though they're houses, one can hear your neighbors having sex, pooping or otherwise making noise through the walls... the houses are that close together.

The last time we handed out candy, we had three groups of kids stop by all evening long.

So we just don't do it anymore. The porch light stays off.

  4. Happy Anniversary to the only other couple I have met who seem to enjoy each other as much as Joseph and I do. Either that, or we are all taking some mighty fine drugs.

    1. Have you considered the possibility that it's both?
