Pictures in the Clouds

Took the kids outside to play on Friday afternoon. It wasn't raining, and it wasn't exactly sunny, either. It was... weird.

Several clouds had swirled into little funnel shapes, although there was very little wind on the ground. The lower clouds were moving very fast, the upper ones almost not at all.

And once again, I am sorry I did not bring a big camera to work with me, but of course I'm not allowed to photograph kids, so what would be the point?

Anyway. This cloud looked a lot like a dragon boat to me. But by the time I got out my phone and snapped the photo, it had started to morph.

But I found it interesting all the same. I kept waiting for an alien ship or something to come thru the hole in the middle of the atmosphere, but it never happened. When I bought my phone, I did not give any thought to how good or not good the camera was. Dammit.





Didn't have many kids on Friday afternoon, which is not unusual.

Fairly peaceful. Good thing, really, as I woke up with a screamer of a migraine on Friday morning (Hormones, 298, Mental, 0).

Came home from the morning shift, took a migraine pill and went to bed for three hours, which enabled me to work the afternoon shift without too much discomfort.

It's 6:35 PM right now, though, and I'm still about 2 hours from when I can take the next dose of Sumatriptan. And I'll need it. ::sigh::

Gonna text all my imaginary friends and let them know I'm going to bed rather than stay up to chat unless the damn headache disappears within the next 15 minutes or so. Or at least backs off a bit. Took two generic excedrin when I got home from work, and it takes awhile to dampen the headache a bit.

Our custodian became ill suddenly on Friday afternoon and had to leave. When I came in to set up, the floor in the cafeteria had not been cleaned. Very weird, as he's really, really good at having everything done before I get there.

I sort of set up around the sticky spots (did the sweeping myself) and the night custodian came down and ran the zamboni (yes, I know that's not what it's called) and cleaned up the worst of it. Evidently a large group of children eating in one big room makes a large mess. 

I know, surprise, surprise!!

Didn't really matter, we went outside right after snack time and stayed out until after five. The kids were having a blast, and we have to take advantage of the decent weather while we have it since it's so changeable this time of year.

I always tease them when parents come to pick up, saying things like, "I had to drag Rachelle* outside kicking and screaming, she wanted to stay indoors."

The kids think it's funny. The parents are happy that their kids are getting to play outside.
I am tired from keeping them all alive and making sure they don't play tag on the play structure. :) Today was a rousing game of Diseased Teddy Bear, followed by a re-enactment of the maiden voyage of the Titanic, although I'm pretty sure there were no cries of, "Toss him overboard!" when the real Titanic began to sink.

I am also fairly sure that the women and children were put into lifeboats ahead of the crew and captain, but our captain said, "To heck with you guys, I'm the captain, I get to go first!!" and he shoved the women and children aside.

One of the passengers (Bailey*) became hysterical when she learned that the ship was sinking, and began shrieking, "I'm a pretty bird, I'm a pretty bird!!" so the captain ordered her tossed into the brig... where they left her and sailed away in the lifeboat. She continued saying, "I'm a pretty bird." mournfully as they got further and further away.

I had to hide my face so she wouldn't hear me laughing, because it really was funny.

Best part of the day? Mike* and Nicole's* dad picked them up at about 5:40 and they were the last two kids. I was home by 6:15 instead of just leaving by then. A gift I really appreciated.

And now, a bite of supper and bed, I think.
