So am I 25

With 26 years of experience... or am I 26 with 25 years of experience?  Either way, today I am 51 years old.

Way past the thrill of birthdays. Not that I mind them, they don't really upset me, but do you remember how you used to look forward to your day? A celebration of you that happened once a year?

My joy was always tempered with a little apprehension. If you've never suffered from a December birthday, you won't understand. But I wish I had a few bucks for every time I'd been told, "We're going to get you a BIG present to combine your birthday AND Christmas!"

And then?  I got something pretty lame. But up until the actual delivery of the lame, there was always this... hope.

Not that it matters now, of course. I have all the stuff I could possibly ever need and wouldn't know where to store more stuff, certainly not a big, combined best present EVAH!!

So I have no big birthday plans. No wishes for anything else spectacular.

Because I have a warm home, family to hug, friends who call and email, and maybe a little birthday chocolate. What could be better than that?

Not even close to lame.
