Green-Eyed Momster had this meme up on Wednesday. She didn't tag anyone, just invited us to drag along and let her know we were doing so.
Do the same, willya?
I'm not tagging anyone, but if you do the meme, leave me a comment so I can come read what you have to say.
Question 1 : Who do you think is the hottest movie star?
Whether it's because of tabloid exposure, or my personal feeling that underneath the lovely exteriors, so many of them are arrogant assholes, I just can't seem to really swoon over one. I do like the young Harrison Ford, but I think that's because of his resemblance to the young Eric I married.
Yum.
Drool.
I'll be in my bunk.
Question 2 : Apart from your house and your car, what is the most expensive thing you've ever bought?
Computers. Tires for the cars. Knee surgery.
Wow. I need to get out more, huh?
Question 3 : What is your most treasured memory?
I know this will sound weird.
I don't care.
Or at least not enough to keep it to myself.
My grandfather died in December of 1973. He'd been hospitalized for some time and had many health problems stemming from his Rheumatoid Arthritis. He passed away shortly before midnight.
Right after he had, I awoke to see him perched on the end of my bed. He was grabbing my toes and gently wiggling them to wake me. When I sat up, he smiled at me, patted my knee and said, "I'm okay now, Susie." (only my parents and grandparents can get away with calling me by that name, just so you know.)
He patted my knee again, and when the telephone rang in the living room, he was... gone.
The phone call was the hospital calling to let us know he'd passed away. I got up to talk to my parents, and as I passed the end of my bed, placed my hand where he'd been sitting.
The spot was warm.
I am so glad he came to see me on his way.
Question 4: What is the best gift you ever received as a child?
See question #3.
Question 5: What is the biggest mistake you've ever made?
I can't even begin to list the huge mistakes I've made. I do find comfort in knowing that everyone makes them, and some make larger ones than mine.
I try to be forgiving, since we all screw up.
Question 6: Give four words to describe yourself.
Delusions of great adequacy
:)
Question 7: What was your highlight or low light in 2008?
Nothing jumps to the forefront of my little brain. I was in a good place in 2008 and I'm still there in 2009. I appreciate it.
Question 8: What is your favorite film?
The Gods Must Be Crazy.
Little independent film from 1980. It did not rely on anything ugly, blatantly sexual, or mean-spirited to get the point across. It's family friendly, although the much younger set probably would find it boring. I adore that movie.
The stars were regular people, and I have never had so much fun watching a movie. The sequel is lovely, too.
Well worth renting or borrowing.
Question 9: Tell something not generally known about yourself.
I once sang a solo in front of 2000 people. I did not get stage fright then and I still don't now... if I'm singing.
If I had been asked to get up and give a speech before that same crowd, my knees would have knocked together and I would have stammered a lot.
The same holds true today. I can still get up in front of a crowd and sing without stage fright but I get pretty nervous speaking. I am better at it than I used to be due to a really good book I found, but I'd really prefer to sing it for ya.
Question 10: If you were a comic strip/cartoon character, who would you be?
Woodstock. Dancing around, being flighty, loving my good friends, loyal to the end. Plus, hanging out with Snoopy would have been fun, I think. What an imagination! ( and Woodstock never, not once, has been required to make a speech... although he sings.)
And Momster ended her post with rant/rave. I don't have either one. Just a little dammit.
Yesterday morning, I went to the doctor that my company sent me to.
He said I injured my rotator cuff. And that I'm not supposed to raise my arm above shoulder height for about six weeks. He gave me some exercises to do so my arm won't turn into a stick of wood hanging next to my side. (And my sweet Eric, who wants to make sure I'm doing okay, asked, "You can still get your legs up, right?")
Say it with me... 'next time, buy the extended warranty'.
::sigh::
#3 made me all misty-eyed. Not weird at all -- very sweet.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd forgotten about The Gods Must Be Crazy. I need to check that out the library sometime.
I had a sort of friend (he was my brother's friend) that died and I swear he visited me in my sleep. It was all very hazy and unreal. He said he was okay and then he was gone. Very odd. Mostly my dreams are more solid than that. It was like the memory clips you see on tv, fuzzy and indistinct, like you're talking through water or something....
ReplyDeleteI wish he would have visited his family. They are all sorts of messed up now, and have been since he died, at age 17, because he was driving drunk.
ReplyDeleteI love "The Gods Must Be Crazy". Especially the awful soundtrack/dubbing. Heh.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Harrison Ford in his Han Solo days... Yummmmy indeed!
Your #3 gave me goosebumps! I had chills all up and down my arms and legs. I love those kind of stories!
ReplyDeleteGlad you can still get your legs up!! he he he!!
Hugs!!
I would be Lucy from Peanuts. I have a tendency to be crabby a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteAn interesting read, especially number 3. When my dad died, he was in a dream of mine not long after. He was doing his usual pointing and shouting at me: except this one last time there was no volume, I couldn't hear a word.
ReplyDeleteOuch!, sorry to read about your latest injury. I hope it heals quickly.
Shirl x
Careful with that shoulder! Ask me how I know :-).
ReplyDeleteI might have to do this memem--how often can I post about packing???
ReplyDeleteI got a big giggle from the Firefly reference....thank you for that!
