To call in at work today.
The knee and these effing crutches are KILLING me.
I can't use them in the normal crutchy way, you see. (Hop on one leg and swing while using.)
Instead, I place the crutches, then I shuffle toward them. Then, I stop, place them again, and shuffle some more. I'm slow. I have them jammed into my armpits and both my armpits and hands HURT. (I know, wahhh... but they really do hurt. A lot.)
There's no way I can move carts and rugs and toys at work, so I will probably call Sunshine this morning and let her know that I won't be in.
I will definitely be calling my doctor first thing, too.
Eric had to put my socks on for me and tie my shoes yesterday. I will probably have to get Lyssa to help me with that today.
Eric went out looking for crutch pads Sunday evening, but could only find the same thing that's on the damn crutches already. If I'm going to be on them for awhile, I'll be ordering some pads from somewhere for sure.
Ugh.
I know in the general scheme of things a little sore knee is not such a big deal, but it is to ME. Can't sit for long in the same position, can't stand long, can't lie down long.
I hope Dr. Dirtball gives me some medicine that helps with the discomfort that's waking me up about 90 times a night, too. We have some Percocet in the cabinet, but I can't take them. They make me sick.
And, if all that whining wasn't enough for you, I also have a sore throat. It's not strep (because strep hits me like a freight train), just a sore throat. No fever or anything like that.
And since Eric went to the grocery store by himself yesterday evening, I haven't even had to have contact with any swine... so it's not THAT, either.
Since today already sucks, I think I'll do some typing practice.
I hope you can get some help with the pain this morning. It sounds absolutely horrid!
ReplyDeletejust caught up. sounds like you're not having such a good time of it. try tea towels for the armpit area. on the crutches, i mean. that's what all the kids that blew out their knees in football did...
ReplyDeleteHugs!!
ReplyDeletePoor thing! Sounds like you're in a terrible way.
ReplyDeleteFeel better!
Let those big kiddos help you out as much as necessary. That's one delicous perk of raising them right . . . they never forget Mom. ;-)
So sorry your suffering with a bad leg. I hope it heals quickly; I know that would drive me crazy.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing by your son way down on that other post.
The kid Ryan--I know adults that are still like that. It is good your are training him some.
Are the crutches the correct height for you? SOunds very painful - hope you recover soon!

Would you be better off with a walker? Seems if you can only shuffle, that would be a better help to you. ((((HUGS)))) I'm so sorry for all your suffering.
