Jesus and Hillary Clinton

We had a rare evening last night. Everyone was home, and no one had to get up at midnight to go to work. We hauled out the Pictionary game. It was kids vs adults. The kids won twice, we won once. In the past, it's been the other way around.

Lyssa was drawing for Matt. She drew a stick figure holding a hammer in one hand and a saw in the other. He guessed construction worker, builder, worker, hammer, saw... she became more and more frustrated. Finally
she added some long hair and a halo.
That did it. He was completely mystified.

When the timer ran out, she informed him that "It was a CARPENTER!! That's why I drew JESUS!"

Lyssa and Eric were both drawing. They looked at the word, and Lyssa said, "I'm confused. I don't know which one..." and Eric said, "Come in here." and led her to the
kitchen for a conference.

They came back, sat down, grabbed their pencils, and I started the timer.

Eric began drawing an elephant. Lyssa began drawing a person.
I figured out the elephant right away, but then he started drawing a zebra? Giraffe? Camel? I couldn't tell.

Meanwhile, across the table, Lyssa had drawn the circle with the line through it over her drawing of what appeared to be a woman.

Neither Matt nor I could figure out what our partner was drawing, and time ran out.

We learned that the word we were supposed to get was 'Republican.'

Alyssa had drawn a woman and crossed her out... it was Hillary Clinton!
(cross out the Democrat... duh.)

Matt was evidently supposed to figure that out.

I've been giggling off and on ever since.

Our youngest loves Pictionary and is pretty good at it. It works better now that she can read. One time the word was chop. The other team was drawing an axe and log, but she drew my food chopper. I didn't get it, but it made so much sense after the fact. It is amazing what people come up with when drawing the pictures (and guessing).
