It's really weird, but in the past couple months a LOT more people have been reading here. I don't know why, either. I'm not any more funny and random than I've ever been, make of that what you will.
It's possible today's title will draw some unwanted attention.
Equally possible is the idea that regular readers will do a double take, shrug and remember that I'm nothing but inappropriate these days.
In this case, though, I'm not even talking about something that's NSFW.
About 15 years ago, Eric and I tried a low carb diet.
We both lost weight but we felt like shit. My brain was sluggish, my digestive system just... stopped. It wasn't worth it to me.
One of the low carb recipes that he really liked was chicken thighs with a balsamic vinegar and butter glaze. Of course we immediately began referring to it as Ballsack Chicken.
I don't care for it, but once in awhile I cook it for him. Since I'm not working much this summer, I have cooked several times. Made lasagna a couple weeks ago. Yum.
Cooking an evening meal is not my job during the school year.
I don't get home until around 7 most evenings, it's a bit of a drive and my last kid is usually not picked up until 6 or a couple minutes before. After the pick up, we wheel the carts back into our storage area, put away the electronics (phone and tablet... we sign kids in and out electronically) and lock things up. So it's usually about 6:15 by the time I walk out and drive for 35 to 55 minutes to get home.
Most of the time I eat a small dinner anyway. More of a snack than anything. Helps me have fewer issues with my stomach at night.
So I did work yesterday, at the office. I was out of there about 3, and although traffic was shit, I still had time to stop by the grocery store to pick up a couple ingredients and then come home and cook dinner for him.
He appreciated it.
I made a stir fry for myself, in case you wondered.
I know little bits of information like that are super important.
::snort::
But when I got up this morning feeling kind of crappy (between the sore feet and aching joints I get from being up and down and up and down and walking back and forth into our warehouse space moving boxes and the small fever I seem to have for no damn reason because school is OUT and I'm not in the middle of a germ factory every day so why am I sick, dammit) and walked into the kitchen, that smell was horrendous.
Couldn't help snickering at the idea that my kitchen smells like ballsack, though.
What does your kitchen smell like?

Last time I was in there is smelled like someone had dropped half a bag of cheese onto a burner and use it to cook something, because Jack did. He's a teenager.
ReplyDeleteOh yuck. Burnt cheese. But hey, at least your kitchen doesn't smell like ballsack!!
DeleteYou are funny so it stands to reason you would have more readers.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious though. I'm on a low carb diet so I understand you feeling crappy. I increased my carbs to 150 a day and that seems to help. It's still low carb but not no carb.
My kitchen smells like the ocean breeze essential oil diffusers I keep all over my apartment. lol
I wondered about trying it again, only with more carbs. I really felt awful on the low carb diet. It's hard to change habits and find new favorite things to eat... and to choose avoiding certain types of food.
DeleteRemember the commercial way back? Little girl walks into a house, says, "It smells like FISH in here!!"
Lady grabs a can of spray, sprays it all over.
The little girl then says, "Now it smells like fish and roses!"
I think if I had ocean breeze in my kitchen it would smell like ballsack and ocean breeze. LOL
I admit your Post Title Hook did reel me in this time my Friend. *Winks* And being on a Low Carb Diet prescribed by the Doc I agree, it is The Devil and I don't Care for it one bit... and the side effects make it not really worth it. Ball Sack Chicken... LMAOROTF... and, glad you've had an increase in Dear Readers, you have a great Blog and I always enjoy visiting.
ReplyDeleteThe whole ballsack joke never gets old to me. I know my own kids probably roll their eyes when I make the same tired joke, though. What is our purpose in life if not to annoy our children?
DeleteI have been considering trying a lower carb way of eating, but the crappy way I felt before is definitely an obstacle.
I'm glad you like reading here. I love visiting you as well. So many beautiful pics and your dark sense of humor often makes me laugh.
Bacon.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is cutting up some bacon as we speak. I don't like bacon, but he does. He's weird.
