I didn't lie

So y'all know I got my car back a week ago.
On Monday I got a text from the girl who hit my car.
She wanted to know if repairs had been completed yet.

I said I'd just gotten the car back, then she wanted to know the total.

I told her that I did not have an itemized bill.

That's not the same thing as telling her I didn't know how much the total was.

And, no. I wasn't about to tell her. She can talk to my insurance company.
Also, I felt bad.

I realize that her inconvenience and the big money she owes to my insurance company aren't my problem.

She didn't hit my car for fun.
I know she has at least one child, the day of the accident was his 7th birthday. She was heading to his school to pick him up early for a treat.

I'm still pissed off at the whole clusterfuck of getting it fixed and I sincerely hope I won't have to play the crash and repair game again. Ever.

I'm surprised at how much the repair cost in comparison to how much the car is worth, too. Now I did NOT want it to be totaled, I don't want to mess with having to get another car and deal with all that goes along with that. But the car's only worth about 10 grand now, it's 10 years old and has a little over 100 thousand miles on it. Between all the bills and the repairs, it was nearly 7 thousand dollars.

I really do feel sorry for her. If she was telling me the truth about her insurance situation, it's even worse. But I'm glad I carry good insurance. And that's why I do.

In other news, I am not going to change jobs right now.
Oh, I'm still pissed off.

Have you heard of quiet quitting? That's where I am right now, although not everyone agrees that's a thing, I think it is. And not just for me.

I will still give 100% to my kids, but nothing extra for the company. Including not wasting my time with their stupid 'Let's all get together every quarter and spend a whole day on bullshit' stuff. I won't be able to make it. I'll be sending one more email about the mess, too. I feel shit on. Shit is not my favorite thing.

  1. Given the declining quality of new cars today (all brands) you are probably better off keeping the one you know.

    1. And while quality declines, they keep adding more bells and whistles and shit that can go wrong. Ughhhh.

I love my little car. It was hard to restrain myself from giving it a hug.

    1. I just can't go back to work for those morally bankrupt assholes I quit in 2016. Can't. I was going to try, but the more I thought about it, the worse I felt about it. They stood by while children were being emotionally and verbally abused and did nothing, which makes them complicit. I can't work there.

The problem is that there aren't many players in the after school game. Some centers offer after school programs, but that means the person running the program is often asked to work with the babies/toddlers/preschoolers. I love them, but on an emotional level I can't deal with taking care of little ones who only want Mom. In addition, the centers offering after school usually run a van to the different schools, and there's no way in hell I'm going to drive a van full of kids around. So I don't have a huge bunch of options if I want to continue doing what I do.

I hope you and Rick have a lovely holiday. We don't exchange gifts here and this is the 5th? 6th? year in a row that there are no decorations and no trappings of the season.

  3. I hope you are able to find something new that you like more. I have heard of quiet quitting and I think a lot of people were doing this before it had a name.

    1. Yeah, it doesn't need a name, really, but I found the term descriptive of how I feel. What I do isn't about the income, it's about the outcome. I love my young humans and want to see them do well. I want to build them up and for the two to four hours a day I see them, I want them to feel valued, supported and appreciated. Funny, I'd like to feel those same things from my employer.
