I have a vision!

Part of the issue is ONE guy, our CEO who has a 'vision' (don't they all?) and sweeps around grandly, declaring what needs to happen.

"You! Minion! Go do this thing! Go do that thing! I have a vision!"

The minions don't disagree with him.
They just go do the things.

He's the one who started 'WHY day".
(Not really called that, it's 'company x day' but everyone says WHYYYYYY?)

A day where the entire work force of this non-profit gets together and breaks into little seminars and discussion groups where such things as introducing ourselves and stating our pronouns (fuck me running... the current phrase to be interchanged at will with an eyeroll) are TEAM BUILDING exercises!

I don't have a problem with whatever pronouns people want to use, by the way. I will use any pronoun I'm requested to use. If I make a mistake and misgender someone, I will apologize and try to do better. It's not a big deal.

I just don't see the necessity of spending 20 minutes of a group session going around the room announcing them to everyone. I figure if someone needs to know mine, I'll set them straight.

These WHYYYYY days make sure everyone gets lunch, too. It's usually something I hate and would never eat on my own, so I pack one. Although the last two sessions I have not attended. The first one was enough, really. The second one was held where it was almost a certainty that I'd run into Sherri, the ignorant sow I got stuck working with and there was no way in hell I was going.

Third one was the day after we were up late late picking up Whisker Grandpa at the airport and I decided not to go at the last minute. This caused a little crabbiness from my manager, but I'm not terribly concerned about what she thinks.

One of the emails just before I decided it might be time for me to leave was some snarky thing about making sure we go to whyyyy day and how it's part of Mr CEO's vision of the future.

Well, that's nice. I'm glad he has a vision.
I'm pretty sure he's not going to tell me,  "Go here, do that thing, do this thing, minion."

Since of of course I'm not going to be one of his minions.

    1. The only people claiming shit like that works are the ones who come up with it in the first place. They get PAID to think of ways to humiliate or embarrass everyone. Gahhhh.
