Well shit. It's dismal.

I got to see my new site Monday. Dismal is a great word for it.

I'm disappointed and discouraged because school starts :::checking calendar::: TOMORROW.

But you know what?
My last site was dismal at first, too.

I walked into a room that looked like an abandoned church nursery.
It wasn't colorful or nice for kids.

But I had a week and I had my daughter helping me, so by the time school started, kids who'd been attending there the year before were stunned by all the changes.

That's not going to happen this time.
Oh sure, I  will make changes.
A LOT of changes. And the place will be looking really nice by the time I've done so.

But I only found out last week which school would be 'mine'. The room was used for summer school and other stuff during the last 18 months. It's cluttered, stuff is disorganized and messy and piled haphazardly all over the place.

I took a few photos standing in one place and turning slowly to capture all the glory.

I can fix it. I will fix it. But ughhhhhhh.

It doesn't help that when I was kicked out of my school in June
:::checking calendar again::: 2020, the stuff that I did not bring home went to general site storage and it's been gone through and messed with and fucked up and the guy who did it 'isn't sure' if item A or B or C is even there.

So I can only count on the things I brought home to my house.

It's frustrating, because I bought 90% of it, and I don't want to have to deal with any of it in the first place. It was through no fault of my own that I lost the place I have been working for the past five years. I deserve better.

I can make this place mine. It will look very nice by the time I'm finished. I even look forward to it, because I know it improves the reputation of my employer (and makes me look good, too) but it's going to take a lot of work and I'll end up having to pay for shit myself. Again. I thought I was finished having to do that.

    1. Right now the district is limiting program size. So until the pandemic is under control, I will be a single person site.

    1. Things will work out. One plus... my school is about 7 minutes from the office instead of 35 to 40.

    1. I hate change. I am a creature of habit. It will be okay.

  5. It will be Okay, you will work some Magic into it, kids are so resilient and if they have a great Teacher they really aren't all that fixated on how 'nice' the place is, because what is important is evident in whose Care they've been entrusted and that energy you emit and they pick up on. I Raised my Family in some pretty substandard places at times... and you know what... they still had Love for those Homes because of all the Memories and Love that were there within those Walls. And it's not just Kids, I still miss my Historic Homestead that The System told me was too substandard to allow the Adoption of The G-Kid Force... the Kiddos still miss it too... none of us misses the McManse I bought in order to just get them Adopted and have The System Bless the dwelling because it was so luxurious. We hated that place so much... would have given anything to move back to where we felt connected to. Your kids will have fond Memories of their time in that Classroom, I can bet money on it.

    1. They seem to be having fun so far. And due to pandemic regulations, none of the parents are allowed into the building to pick up their children, so the parents haven't actually seen the surroundings. Sad to be relieved that they can't see it.

You're right, though. The experiences and the enjoyment won't be affected because the walls are dingy and there are spider webs in the corners. ::sigh:: I will get there.

  6. I am sorry you lost so much of the material you used in the classrooms. Hopefully you will be able to find some of it! So frustrating, I know. Good luck!

    1. I have lost HOURS of sleep over it.
      HOURS.
Not that it helps, but I seem helpless to just ignore it and move on, too.
      My brain....
