I know you thought I'd say 'Coal Mine' but maybe that's just me.
That's what popped into my head this morning, though.
I *just* got over a cold. I felt like crap off and on for about 12 days, fever up and down (a small fever, just enough to make me feel shitty..) for at least 8 of those days.
I managed the same way I always do, Excedrin and power through. I don't always take something to kill a fever because a fever isn't actually a bad thing, but when I feel really off, I do. Otherwise I have to lie around and wait to feel better, something I really don't have time for.
I had four or five days where I felt decent. When I went to sleep last night, my throat was a little itchy and I woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and another damn little fever. Grrr.
Of course it's directly related to my job. I was hoping I'd escaped the crap this year, but I've been coughed and sneezed on nonstop for the last month or so.
And bam, here it is again.
I have a TON of things that need doing here at home, which isn't unusual because I'm lazy and I never want to do anything, but I can't stand the mess anymore... so now I'm taking Excedrin with every intention of powering through.
Excedrin and half a box of tissues.
::sigh::
When the going gets tough..........
ReplyDeleteThe tough whine and blog?
DeleteVery good!
DeleteHaha, that's what we need, a whine and blog. I did my share of whining yesterday, and feel a little hungover about it...lol. What are our other choices? I vote for the Bahamas.......anyone else?
ReplyDeleteI can't go to the Bahamas right now, if the plane crashes and I die, I'll be embarrassed about my house and the mess my relatives will have to clean up.
DeleteWhining now and then is good for you,I think. And if it isn't,I don't care. Gonna do it anyway.
Feel better. I am on my second cold in under 2 weeks. Thankfully the older kid got it this time, not the younger 2 (one keeps it forever and wheezes)--the other 2 (one who had it before, one who didnt) had sinus drainage which made them urp for a day but bounced back. It moved down into my chest this morning, hallelujah, a lot less nose blowing! My husband picked up 6 boxes of tissues and 3 of them are out in the house already. It's a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI'm a tissue snob. Must have Puffs with lotion. My skin isn't getting any younger, and constant sandpapering under my nose does me no favors. :)
DeleteHope everyone in your family is feeling much better soon, especially you,the one who keeps it all together. :)
Do you recall a few years ago when they packaged one 'vicks' tissue box with the other lotion ones? Gross. I can still smell them. That's what we use, too. The kids use hankies in bed instead of getting up 10x a night. With allergies and such, it's a big help. At one point I threw a family 'cowboy' party for one of the kids. We used the hankies as napkins and then gave them to the kids after that. So we have a big stock.
DeleteEww. No.
DeleteI have a trash can next to the bed and a box of tissues in just about every room of the house. It's only once in awhile, but when I get hit with it, it's nice to have them around.
My father in law still uses a handkerchief, I am not sure I could do it, it bugs me somehow.
I'm sorry. My oncologist called children tiny germ factories and was put out whenever anyone brought one to his office. I hope that you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI had training all day today and felt decent. Sitting around, doing nothing much. Doodling. I will be tired tomorrow morning but that's 'cause 5 AM is early, not because I'm sick.
DeleteTried essential oils yet? Some drops of ravintsara and eucalyptus radiata (and tea tree if you so wish) in some nice plant based oil (almond is my favourite) and then ask for a massage of your back before bedtime! (and you can put it on the inside of your wrists all day long - kind of protects you at the same time as "healing" the sick kids who come close enough to you...
ReplyDeleteor just some drops on a tissue next to your head when going to bed.
Hug!
One of the reasons I steer clear of oils and other scents is that I get migraines from so many of them. I do have a great guy who's always willing to rub my shoulders/back. Helps with the headaches immensely.
DeleteI was considering putting big paper masks on all the kids for, oh, the next couple months. To protect all of us. lol
Cool plan!! Lucky me, I don't suffer from migraines. And I'm serious: I do know I'm lucky.
DeleteHug!
