Since of course I'd never entitle (still another) post with 'Mongolian Clusterfuck'.
I would never want to go back to work for the appalling shitbags I was working for when I found my current job.
Even though thatasshole licking toilet hound bitch Fluffy was demoted, she still has a fucking job!!
They're still hiring nothing but morally bankrupt harpies, too.
How do I know? I am still in touch with a few people who work there and have seen more than one current example of how management treats people.
Taking a page from the Fluffy's School of Management handbook, they fly around flinging dung around everyone's sites (somewhat like pissing in the corners to mark their territory, but waaay shittier) and send nasty group and individual emails rather than speaking to people. Degrading and demoralizing their 'team' at every opportunity.

Dipshits.
I took the hours of time required to write it all up and told them exactly why.
But it's not about caring for children.
Not about taking care of the people who work there.
Not about care at all.
It's only about money.
I don't like dishonest people and I don't like people who are fine with treating others like garbage.
Those people were nasty. Crap wages and zero appreciation. Their programs have gone downhill because almost everyone with seniority left either just before or just after I did. The carnage ended up being 14 out of 16 people in only about 18 months and it's not over. I think everyone who was going to leave has done so, but now schools are closing programs. One of our healthiest and largest programs closed over the holiday break. It went from 40 children at its best down to 20 in one year.
This year, only eight children were signed up for the program in the fall, and six of them aren't there anymore.
Another one bites the dust.
Dipshits.
The people who got fed up and decided to leave were long term employees, too. The most senior among them is still there, but her situation is different, her husband is retired and she's only working for the health benefits. The changes and the crazy haven't affected her very much because she is willing to put up with all kinds of shit for those health benefits. And although she's gracious and lovely on a personal level, she's sort of oblivious about a great deal of the crap anyway. To her, there's not a lot of complexity in personal or business relationships. I can't really think of a way to describe it without being unkind, something I wouldn't want to do when speaking of her. As I said up there ^^ I would never want to go back to work for the appalling shitbags I was working for. It pains me to admit it, but they did get some things right.
We were required to have our programs divided into zones, although they didn't call them zones, I can't remember what all of them were called, now.
Each zone had a rolling cart with bins and a large carpet for the kids to sit on except for the book cart. That was parked near our back room and I kept it well stocked with amazing books, often ones that I'd purchased with specific individuals in mind.
One area had LEGO, blocks, K'nex, cars, plastic zoo animals, marble run pieces, magnet building blocks... you get the idea.
What's called S.T.E.M. these days, an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math.
Educrats like acronyms, it makes them feel special.
Another cart was there for open art. That one was called 'Imagine That' but I always felt like Art Attack was a better name for the area. Every program had markers, glue sticks, pencils, colored pencils, scissors and paper edgers, punches, stencils, rubbing plates and crayons. Most sites had extra items, my cart also contained drawing books and lots of little buttons and stuff. In the back room we had pipe cleaners and assorted other things, most of the time the kids knew to ask for them. There wasn't room on the art cart for all the possibilities, you see.
I don't have room on our cart for them now, either. But my kids know that we have extra supplies and almost anything a kid can use to make art.
Another cart contained items for dramatic play. Dishes, fake food, aprons and little babies to hold.
The fourth cart had extras that didn't fit on the other carts. It usually ended up parked on the edges of the room and the kids used the carpet in front of it to play with their LEGO, but other stuff happened there, too. There were always plenty of nice (expensive) kid carpets.
But no matter who the site director was, no matter how attentive, serious, organized or reliable that person was (or wasn't), there was a minimum standard. There were many things for the kids. They were able to figure out how they'd like to spend their time for the most part.
I said all that so I can tell you about the site I spent Wednesday,Thursday and Friday at.
I don't like being micromanaged, and I hate the lousy people who spoiled my happy little program.
They were assholes in a lot of ways, but the trains were running on time, you knew where they were going to end up and who'd be at the station when you got there.
And although I don't wish for more management... I'm the last person who needs it, actually, I think that someone should be going to every single program and assuring that minimum standards of care are being met.
We're only as strong as our weakest people, and there is a reason that our reputation isn't great. I would like to see it improve, and getting things stocked and maintained in every single program, large or small, would help us in that direction.
I'm trying to decide how to best approach this revolutionary idea.

I would be so stressed out if I had to deal with this. Hopefully things get better.
ReplyDeleteIt was only three days. Three LONG DAMN afternoons. Crazy place. And I'll be reporting a license violation to my employer.
DeleteSounds frustrating! Does this company have anyone who listens? That's who I would start with....
ReplyDeleteThey are decent people. They really are. And even though it's not likely that it will do any good, I am going to try to at least get the idea of minimum standards on their radar.
DeleteDon't hit me but....
ReplyDeleteYou'd be the perfect person for that job (going around to the different sites and shipping them into shape)
I would probably be great at it.
DeleteI just don't want to do it.
