We DO NOT need to talk.

I have finally resorted to a very big sign at my front door.
It says, NO POLITICS.

Every do-gooding little shitbug in the state has either knocked or left me a goddamn brochure despite the NO SOLICITING signs at both doors.

God how I hate those little shitbugs, trundling busily here and there, leaving great piles of droppings everywhere they go.

Because two years ago there were three registered voters in our home, one Republican, one Democrat and one Independent, EVERY shitbug out there has either stopped by or sent a letter this month.

It's annoying as fuck. And disturbing me AT HOME is not going to change my vote. Unless of course I'd planned on voting for your candidate, Shitbug. Now I'm voting for the other guy.

And no, not really.
My voting is done already, so they're not only wasting my time, they're wasting theirs. WTF do they think 'no soliciting' means?

It's like the religious idiots. They believe that proselytizing is more important than my clearly stated wish to be left alone in my home.

The Shitbugs want to help me find the error of my ways and elect their candidate, who is somehow a better choice than the other guy by virtue of party, great smile, the fact that he hasn't been caught breaking the law or porking the cat (yet) or any other number of factors that I don't need pointed out to me.

They think that because the voting makeup of our home was so mixed, that they'll have a chance of swaying our vote.

On the rare occasion that I have talked to one of these people, they don't want to discuss the issues. They just want to tell me what a big crapfuck the opponent is and how I fall short of humanity by the way I vote or the politicians I don't like.

And how do they know that our voter registrations really mean anything? I registered differently than I would otherwise have registered because in our state, depending on how you've registered, you may not be able to participate in the primaries.

I like to hope that there are people out there like me... people who try to look at the issues and pay attention to what's going on. Reading the damn voter pamphlet and trying to figure things out without falling for the rhetoric and bullshit from either side. And for goodness sake...hating someone because of who they don't like politically? I don't understand  it. Just because I don't like candidate A doesn't mean that I'm voting for candidate B, either.

I'm willing to discuss... if *I* have questions, I'll call.
Until then, stay off my porch. Stop sending the piles of brochures in the mail.
Don't you have some sort of job??? I mean besides bothering me at home.

  1. According to our newspaper, people out-of-state are spending millions of dollars on one of our state elections. And, really, they seem to being getting crappy value for their money -- just constant phone calls about the opposing candidate ushering in the apocalypse, and NO info on why their guy is better (or worse, or really anything at all about him). In the meantime, I have gone from neutral to negative about their candidate.

    1. I'm happy to hear from you, I didn't know you were still reading!! Since you stopped blogging and all.

Yes, the door knocking and the glossy flyers that say really bad things about the opponent and nothing new or good about the candidate are ridiculous.

      remember this post?

  4. I hate this time of year. They knock on my door all the time to make sure I'm voting the way they hope. I'm not even nice when they show up anymore.

    1. I would be nicer but they're ignoring the signs that are hanging up. And the religious zealots are, too. I just want to be left alone in my home. I can't imagine why that's so hard to understand.

  5. We are lucky in that we rarely have solicitors, political or otherwise. Because I have a doorbell camera, I can talk to them right on my phone and let them know: "Go away!" It does come in handy.

    1. I don't even have a smart phone. So far I've managed to avoid it. I am just so tired of being bothered... I was even getting TEXTS this weekend. When I responded that I didn't want to receive those texts, they responded with a suggestion that I remove my phone number from my voter information. How about you don't CALL, Chachi???
