And then,

I got a "personalized" mass email from my employer, inviting me to spend money to show up at a company-sponsored BBQ event.

"Dear Sarah,
We're celebrating x number of years, thank you for being part of our family."

Great.
Except of course I'm Susan.
Nothing like being part of a family where they don't even know your name, huh?

And can you imagine me going to anything like that?
Ever? In a billion years?

And seriously. If they want people to show up, they probably should make it a free event.

Then I got an email the next day apologizing for the mistake in their data entry.

I wonder if Sarah got the same apology email.
::snort::

So I still haven't figured anything out. I dislike uncertainty so much.
Ugh.

I have several training things I'm required to go to for summer program, because working with kids over summer is so different than working with children during the school year.

That's sarcasm, by the way. My 2nd favorite 'asm'.
(Enthusiasm is my 1st, but I know that's not what you were thinking.)

It's a licensing thing, everyone on staff must receive summer training. My ex employer is doing the same thing right now, except they run an all-day session on a Saturday so that everyone can attend at once. I would prefer that for this employer, too, but no one really cares too much about what I think.

Fair enough, I spend a great deal of time not caring too much about what they think as well.

But since they don't want me directing LEGO camp, I don't have to take the trainings that are for site directors. Yippee.

That didn't apply this evening when I drove over to the office for two hours of how to plan and implement activities for summer.

I'm always amazed at the ideas that some of the younger people come up with. Tonight's winner was bringing books, paper and crayons on the bus for the kids to have 'something to do' while traveling.

If you don't have children, you probably aren't thinking the same way I do, but if you've ever been on a school bus full of kids for an hour or so in the heat, you wouldn't think adding something that might contribute to motion sickness would be a smart idea.

Instead, you do a scavenger hunt. Spotting things keeps them engaged, looking out windows and not looking down while the contents of their stomachs swirl around.

And no, I didn't bother saying anything.
You might say that I wasn't engaged in the training session at all.
You would be right.

I love running my own site. The kids are happy. I'm happy.
Summer sucks.
Why can't school just run year-round?

Boy, that's a rookie mistake. I often have to send the same e-mail to multiple people and I always double- and triple-check to make sure I've got the name right on each one. Somebody is not doing their job.

    1. I'm sure it's more than one somebody.
      What a nutty "organization."

It would be easier if I could hate them. Or even dislike them. But they are nice people. And I am paid a decent wage with benefits, I love the work, love my placement.

But I think it's probably okay for me to at least roll my eyes about stuff like that. :)

  2. There you go again being all rational and logical. Tsk, tsk.

    1. I'm trying to give it up, though. Starting with Sundays. I figure if I can do one day a week without rationality or logic, I'll be able to build on that.

      Baby steps.

  3. invited to a party that you have to pay to attend. Do they get a lot of people attending? Especially work related. No thank you.

    1. I've been with this bunch for a little less than two years. I have no idea about attendance at their social events, as I don't attend social events. Ever.

I'm guessing the people who show up are the ones who are being paid to talk on the phone and point and boss. People like that seem to enjoy being part of the herd.

I don't have any friends at the office. Just acquaintances. I'm fine with that. I'm sure they are, too. :)
