I went to my school today.
It's that time again. Setting up to run the before/after school show.
Since my program space was bulldozed never to be heard from again, (turns out that's not correct... more on that later ) I have to run my program in the cafeteria.
I had it mostly figured out. I had one very large room divider cart, not very tall but pretty big. You'll notice the past tense there... the cart is now missing.
I'm pissed as hell, not that it's going to do me any good.
I had all my boxes piled on it and around it. It was clearly marked with the company name and its destination (Storage Tunnel). The boxes, at least most of them, are all in one spot but my cart, all $479.00 worth... is gone.
We thought that maybe someone in the school had taken it because after the movers got done moving stuff, it would not have been surprising if the tags got torn off, they were only taped on with packing tape.
Nope. It's not in the building. We looked.
The last hope is that the movers, by definition having more brawn than brains, took it to the district's storage facility. I emailed our principal tonight to let him know that I'm willing to drive over there and look for it. It really makes a difference in my program. Everything has to be portable, meaning everything needs to have wheels.
All my stuff is stored in a basement storage area. I can't find my first aid suitcase, or haven't yet, and I'm going up there again tomorrow to consolidate some other stuff, box it up and have it sent to the company storage unit for a year. I'll need it next fall when we (once again) move. And I don't have any damn wheels at all yet. Except for a book cart that our custodian found for me today.
::sigh::
On the funny side of things, Cathy in the office told me that for the last two weeks, the telephone would ring at her desk and the ID would say the call was coming from my (bulldozed on June 23rd) program space.
They finally tracked down a wire that had not been disconnected when the others were. It was buried in some rubble and should not have been working, but it was. :)
In my old job, I used the entire cafeteria for my program. I had a lot of kids, though, and needed the space. For mornings, I consolidated things into one smaller area so the cafeteria could be used to serve breakfast, but the kids still ranged all around the room.
Both my program and my space are smaller now, so I am hopeful that I can make it work a little more simply.
Breakfast is served in this cafeteria, too. In the afternoons I could utilize more of the room but it will probably be easier to keep things contained by just setting up for morning and afternoon at the same time and not changing things at the end of the day.
I have done some of what I need to do, will have a good deal of the rest of it done tomorrow, and then finish on Tuesday when I meet our licensing person at my site.
I am not ready for school to start. I still have a million things that need to be done. And I'm pissed off that all my stuff isn't there.
But now, it's bedtime. Up at the buttcrack of dawn again. Haircut etc. And meeting someone at 2 so SHE can haul things down the stairs for me, as I am not able to do it.
Always something, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes. And although the people I work for are nice, if I had to choose an adjective to describe them, 'supportive' would not be the one I'd pick.
DeleteI'd be seriously pissed if that was my cart. I lug tools around all day and occasionally they're be another tradesman there. They may borrow something if I'm not there and the next time I pass they'll say "I used your wrench, hope you don't mind." Which is fine. It's when you can't find something and start searching around for it and find it where someone has just left it, that pisses me off. Not that I'd ever ever do that :).
ReplyDeleteI hope it turns up.
I have a splodge for you. I'll pm you in a day or two and get it in the post :)
Oh I am seriously pissed. Not that it's doing me any good.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing what you painted. ;)
I hope it turns up somewhere :-) but you just never know these days. Even my Ring neighborhood videos show brazen individuals that take UPS deliveries while the person is home, and strange people going door to door.
ReplyDeleteSadly, that's happening everywhere. Nice places, not so nice places, places in between.
DeleteAnd I'm pissed off but haven't given up yet.
aaaaaaah!
ReplyDeletewe have a cart here that I'd be happy to give you, but am not able to send it...
hug!
Maybe you can just bring it to me?
DeleteI am sorry I'm not surprised! Some people really can't hear or
ReplyDeletetake the time to read and follow directions anymore. They do not care about "instructions"!
I wish you well, hope you get 'em straight!
Well, I figure out how to solve my own problem. I emailed the manager person and the manager person above her and asked for what I want. If they don't get it for me, then I will spend the 150.00 and get it anyway. But I will pitch a fit and demand reimbursement, too. Because I'm tired of not getting what I need to run my program. Of furnishing my own stuff because if I don't, I won't have the same program. Mostly I didn't go get it myself because I didn't want Eric to have to put it together.
DeleteWe'll see.
