I've had a lot of time to be lazy this summer.
Not accustomed to the luxury of doing nothing for consecutive hours and hours and hours and hours.
I manage to keep up with the laundry and the dishes, and I really have done an amazing amount of dehoarding (house hasn't looked this good in years) but I still have the lazy.
I have to admit that it feels good.
And although I have to come up with some money to pay my insurance premiums, by the time my taxes and insurance are deducted from my paychecks, I bring home such a small amount of money that I haven't missed it at all this summer.
Another upside to being paid crap wages by crappy people, I guess.
Last night, I grabbed the big manila envelope the surgeon had handed to me at my pre-surgery appointment. A little confusing. When we scheduled the surgery via telephone, they told me to show up at 1:30 for a 3:30 surgery. But the paper in the envelope says to show up at 11:30 for a 1:30 time slot.
That would be better, but I'm not sure which one is right. I'll be calling to get that figured out in the morning.
The Mom Cave is finished except for curtains. Oh, and paint. I grabbed some paint chips last time I was at the store. I haven't decided what colors to use yet, but I'm down to four choices. The windows in this room face North, so there's always good light. Too bright, really, with nothing between the window and the sky, hence the black cardboard I put up to cover things until curtain time. I will use one color for three walls and a different color for the fourth. Considering a third color for the window trim and the trim around the closet. The closet doors are gone, not enough room in the closet for all the plastic storage bins because they stick out past where the doors would go. It isn't fancy, but it's far better organized than it has been for ages. Of course I'm planning to go out to my school and pick up the big ticket items that are mine if it becomes necessary.
I don't know where that stuff will end up if I end up bringing it home, but the only reason I'd bring it home is because I've found another job. And finding another job would mean hauling a great deal of it to a new location. Or probably, anyway.
Eric's knees are bothering him. He really needs to get them looked at and possibly taken care of, but 'maybe you should' and 'do you want me to make you an appointment' commentary isn't welcome. He's suffering and I can do nothing. I know what knee pain is like. Horrendous.
Men.
I'm at the wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-text-myself stage, too. Between the possible job change and the surgery my brain isn't resting properly.
I plan to take some photos in here today because I know you just really want to see what my Mom Cave looks like. I still have some things left to organize, but it's so much better than it was.
I have some reading material in here, as well as medications, bottles of water, tissues, all the remotes in one place, a stack of movies, a phone charger and spare crutches. What am I forgetting?
So now it's after 10. And I just heard Eric finish with the shower. That means it's my turn and I can get my day started.
I have to finish a curriculum unit for work and take that in tomorrow, too. Ugh. Gotta see Twatwaffle and other useless assholes. On the good side, I won't have to spend much time there.
I have to manufacture some bugs to take in, find all the little things that go along with the unit and put them all in a box. Get all the pieces of paper into a binder. I really don't feel like messing with it, but I know that it's a unit the kids will enjoy doing. So that almost makes it worth my time. Almost.
Oh, no, not Eric's knees, too! That bites!
ReplyDeleteHe has abused his body for a long time to earn a living to take care of his family. He's really stubborn and refuses to seek treatment when he's hurt at work. I can't do anything about it. I wish I could.
