So Carey,
one of my co-workers, is working elsewhere for summer. For some hypothetical company, of course.
Fluffy and Fluffy Jr. shit on her regarding hours, so she found a summer job and told them that she wouldn't be able to work for them this summer.
Here are two completely simulated photos of where Carey might be working.
It's completely appalling. If I were a parent, and I went and scoped out that location, there is no way in hell that I'd take my kid there. And it's ridiculously expensive to do so, too. The simulation looks like a refugee camp. What a pit. Embarrassing.
The kids would be bored out of their minds if this were the place they were attending.
Gee, I wonder why. Hm.

But you know, I've been supplying my own site for a long time. We all do it, because if we don't, we have bored and unhappy kids. And it makes our job suck donkey balls.
Do they reimburse people for their expenses?
No.
No they do not.
In fact, they threaten people with disciplinary action when they spend their own money on their programs. The amount of bullshit they give people for supplying stuff for their own programs is truly ridiculous.
Do they appreciate the contributions of their dedicated employees?
ANY of them?
HELL no.
They also expect people to earn money for the company and then they fail do the whole equal pay for equal work thing.
Shit wages paid to the people who do the actual work.
So this morning, Carey stopped by and I loaded her car up so she could do her damn job over summer.
She could not have been more grateful.
I figure it helped me because now I don't have to haul it all to Goodwill.
And a bunch of bored kids will now be entertained. Win/win.

ReplyDeleteAnd I'd totally let you babysit me. :0) Fun Fact: We have a Scout working on his Eagle project... he needs tools to help build the last part of it. The Scouts can not use power tools. So I told him he could come by anytime and use our full workshop, provided he brought a responsible adult... because I was not one. His mom looked at me dead in the face and said "But that's why you're so fun."
Extra Fun Fact: His Mom was also Youngest's first grade teacher. :)
My point? Kids know when you put the extra time in... not for money, but for them. They KNOW. And they love it.

I do not understand why the company I work for does not appreciate the people who do the work.I have put my heart and soul into this job.
Did I miss something? Why would you be taking your stuff to Goodwill?
ReplyDeleteOh. Well, I am dehoarding. I have so much stuff that there's no way I'm going to use it all. Ever. So what I've been doing is pulling things out, looking at them and REALLY pondering... 'how long will it take to do this project? How many children would realistically participate? Does it require drying time?' Etc. And if it seems like it's not going to be worth the time spent, the stuff goes into the Goodwill box. I have entertained the idea of opening my own center. It's just about 15 years too late for me to do that, though. It's not something I want to invest the time and emotional energy in. So things I have saved for a long time are going into the Goodwill box, too.
DeleteKids will benefit from your charity. I know you're not religious, but it sure sounds a lot like what Jesus would do. Not the first time I've said that to someone who has left the faith. It's about morals, I guess.

Isn't it ridiculous? After meeting with the big fish earlier this year and hearing him spout 'we do what's best for children' over and over during that conversation as well as summer training, I have decided that he's not at all honest. He does what's best for the corporate bottom line. Period. And so do the other branches of the company. The only people who give a shit about the children are the ones working directly with them. Everyone else is focused on how much money they get. It makes me ill.
