hackhackhack

Ms Drama, aka Molly was in dire straits this morning.

When her mom dropped her off, she moped around a little, then joined the other kids. She played for the hour or so between drop off and time to clean up.

When it was time to put all the toys away, she suddenly had a coughing fit.

A polite little cough, which didn't really bring her any attention. I saw her looking around to see if anyone had noticed. When no one did, she coughed a little louder.

I asked her if she was doing okay and she shrugged. Not sure? Okay then.

About a minute later, she had a big coughing fit. Thing was, it wasn't a real cough. You know how someone coughs and coughs and their eyes water and their face turns red and you can tell there's something really going on? This wasn't like that. And as she 'coughed', she put both hands on her throat like she was choking. When she saw me looking, she put a very dramatic expression on her face and sank to her knees on the only carpet that hadn't been rolled up and put away.

So I walked over to her, knowing it was a show, but still asked her if she was okay.

She mouthed, "I can't talk!!!"

Then, put her hand up like she was holding a phone.
Mouthed, "Can I call my mom?"

"Molly, how can you call your mom when you can't even talk?"

She bravely managed a whisper. "I can whisper just a little," she told me.

I told her that school was about to begin and that she should go ahead and go to class. "If you still don't feel well, you can let your teacher know. She will send you to the office, where they will take your temperature. And if you don't have a fever, they'll send you back to class."

When she got in line for breakfast, she was able to speak to the cashier person and give her lunch ticket number audibly.

And of course she was just fine this afternoon.
