Not on my watch..

Jennifer* came in on Monday morning very excited. Her class was going on a field trip.

I said, "Awesome! Where are you going?"
She looked puzzled. "Um, I don't know. It starts with an 'S'."
"Okay.. what will you do there?"

"I don't know."

Then Carl* said, "Jennifer. Your class is going to Salem."

"Oh yeah! Salem."

He went on to say, "That's the capitol of Oregon."
"I didn't know that!" she said.

Silly kid.

So they spent the day in Salem. The kids in my program who went on the trip said they had a great time touring the capitol and seeing all the architecture and people.

Had a good time by all accounts.

And as they were getting off the bus in the school parking lot, Jennifer tripped and fell out of the bus. She chipped her front teeth on the pavement. She hasn't been back in school since.

I know she's had dental care and her teeth were capped. Lyssa said, when we talked, that it's not fair, Jennifer hasn't even had her front teeth all that long. She's been out of school since. I am anxious to see her again.

I hate when kids get hurt. It upsets me.

She'll have a lot of street cred with the kids. I'm sure she'll make the most of it. :)

  1. ooh, I'm all stressed out now! You could have waited until she got back before telling us! Poor kid. My daughter broke her two front teeth in school, but they're supposed to be replaced by the new ones... It will only take another year or so (and yes, she had to have them taken out, she'll have had a gapped smile for ages by the time they decide to show themselves!). Keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy return of your little champion.
    Hugs to all of them!
