35 years ago today Eric and I decided to get married. There was no touching proposal, there were no flowers or sentimentality.
Instead there was a day spent in the small town of Ouray, Colorado. Festivities of a small town 4th of July coupled with an amazing display of fireworks, which we watched lying on a blanket on the hood of our car, leaned back against the windshield. And while basking in the remembered warmth of the day and the discovery of how deep our friendship had become, we realized we were going to end up married.
He bought me a little tiny ring that day. I still wear that ring on a chain around my neck.
And he's still the best person I know.
