The universe may be trying to get my attention.
Or some cosmic asshole... not sure.
I was standing by the tub yesterday morning at 5:02 AM adjusting the water for my shower when the cover of the fluorescent light fixture completely fell off and hit me on the top of my head. No reason.
It bounced off my head, hit the floor and broke. There were little shards of plastic all over the floor. I thought I got them all, but this morning when I stepped out of the shower, I found another one. In the bottom of my left foot. Owie owie.
Yesterday afternoon when I was getting ready to bring my kids in from playing outside, I reached for the clipboard and misjudged the distance and slammed my pinkie into the fence. I have a beautifully colored knuckle. And it hurts. But you can't see the color much right now, because of all the dye that's all over my hands.
Tie dye week is a chance for me to prove that I'm still not sane.
Tami says it shows how much I love my kids, but I'm going with the loss of sanity defense. :)
However, I've done this so many times that I've figured out most of the bugs and issues, and it's going as smoothly as possible. I learned this time that if you buy a lid for your 5 gallon bucket, you can stack ANOTHER bucket on top of it!! And your little handtruck thing will work so much better that way. Less spilling.
I think I finally have it mostly under control.
But you know, kids are sloppy. Dye sort of gets flung here and there. It's like water. Except it's water that doesn't wash out. And it's colorful. And bright.
So I am on cleanup duty mostly, reminding Jason*, "Dude, you have plenty of color right there, you need to get some on the white part of your shirt." And telling Greg*, "If dye is running all over the table and no longer sticking to the fabric, you have enough dye."
You know the old saying about a lady's hands proclaiming her habits, right?
That's me.
Under the dye, I'm still as much of a lady as I've ever been.
Make of that what you will.
You better be using the camera on the results! I don't even want to hear the... I forgot the camera, excuse.
ReplyDeleteI will try to get some photos. Can't take identifiable picture of children and post them online, of course, but getting a few shirt photos is maybe possible. :)
DeleteOuch! I feel your pain...literally. Two weeks ago a 4"x 5" mirror fell off the wall in my bathroom. Shards are everywhere, even after my landlords had it professionally cleaned up. By everywhere I mean lodged in my left knee. Blood stains are everywhere too. Thank God for Oxi Clean.
ReplyDeleteI saw that on your blog!! Horrible mess! I'm glad your landlord fixed things properly, but what a wreck. :(
