Round 2

I've been attacked.

The butt-diggin', booger pickin', sneezing, coughing, germy inhabitants at my little country school have had their germ warfare machine in overdrive. Kid after kid has shown up, not felt well, and ended up missing from program the next day. School-wide, there were over 40 kids out today. That's more than 10% of the school population.

Now I have a fever, a sore throat, swollen lymph glands, a headache and joints that aren't sure whether to ache or hurt like hell. Oh, and my left ear is infected. I can't yawn without an audible pop.

I don't like missing work. So I haven't been missing any.
I dose up on Excedrin and go anyway. This afternoon, my fever broke for awhile, which did help, but it's back now. It brought its cousin. Whoopie.

I had a great nap this morning, not enough hours but it was nice. I am grateful for the electric blanket. Then, I got up. And I was freeeezing. A hot shower and more layers of clothing than I usually wear took care of the problem, at least for awhile.

I'm feeling crappy, but not crappy enough to miss work. I have to be seriously ill to take time off.

The ear infection is actually the worst part. If it's not a lot better by Friday, I will go visit the local urgent care if I can't get in to see Dr. Dirtball. The rest of it is almost certainly viral, so no point in antibiotics. Unless the ear doesn't get better. Yuck.

This morning, Jennifer had a whopper for me. She told me that she was very tired because, "My parents made me stay up very late to watch a scary movie. There was an alien who jumped on a guy's face!"

I said, "Jennifer, I don't know if I believe that your parents made you watch something scary."

"Oh they did," she assured me. "They have a hard time knowing what's appropriate for me to watch."
She turned to go back to the table where she'd been painting a picture.
Stopped. Turned back around.
And said, "We're working on that."

::snort::

Sure. I believe that. And her parents, who have raised several children, are very smart people. They would no more make her watch a scary movie than I would.
What probably happened is the same thing that she's done many times before. She sneaks out of bed and sits on the landing upstairs. She can sit near the edge and put her face up against the railing and see a small part of the television screen from there. Unless their dog figures out that she's out of bed and goes up there, she will sit for a long time. She sometimes falls asleep and her parents go put her in bed on their way to bed.

And speaking of going to bed. It's past time for me to head that way. Hopefully going to bed early will help a little. I'll set this to post at the usual time, but it's just a little after 7 PM. A good night's sleep can't hurt, right?

Unless Eric makes me watch a scary movie, I should sleep well. :)

    1. Not a chance. I am allergic to them, had the start of an adverse reaction after two doses and stopped taking them. It's on all my charts. NO NO NO.

    2. When was that??? Was it before you started having trouble with your knees? Those things have really messed me up!!!

    3. No, the knee troubles were due to injuries and fucking assholes who wouldn't listen and give me some goddamn help. May they all rot in hell or whatever facsimile they end up in, especially the head asshole. What a piece of shit.

The cipro made me have a swollen tissue in my throat and nasal passages problem. Like an asthma attack, or at least the way I understand one to be. It was not a good feeling, and I quit taking it immediately. It's on all my records now.
