'Twas the night before crunch week...

I have a big bag of nestle crunch bars to hand out to school staff.
I have a bunch of stuff loaded into my car along with the candy.

Tami found me TWO Spirographs! Remember those? Well, they don't use sharp little pins to attach the wheels to the paper anymore, they use 'spiroputty'. Which is just the tacky putty stuff you use to attach posters to the wall. And what we use to attach the marble run stuff to the wall, too. So I have a ton of it.

I'm taking the spirographs in for our morning activity. I know the kids will enjoy it. And perhaps giving them an activity they can manage on their own will allow me to finish the things I didn't have time to do on Friday.

I went out to the school, but I didn't have enough time to get things set up and fixed properly since I had to go do a shift at summer site. I suggested to our manager that for next year, we plan on a day off from summer site to manage setting up our own sites. It's stressful when one doesn't have time to get it all done. She agreed with me.

So now, I am going to make up a few notes and attach some candy to them. And make sure my alarm clock is set. And lay out my clothes. And, and, and....

I love what I do. I like the quirky kids. I like the regular ones. I like the ones who make me think. I like the ones who need extra maintenance. I like all of them. It's a great place for me to be, and I can't imagine being anywhere else.

But the first week is hectic.

It does not help that the school district replaced all the telephone lines this summer, and even though they were told to leave my phone line ALONE, as it was a dedicated line for our company, NOT the district, those dingbats tore out my goddamn phone line!

So I will be using my own personal cell phone to call out, checking our own site voicemail periodically, and hoping like hell we get a cell phone out there pronto.

I've always carried my cell with me when we go out to the playground or to the gym, and I don't mind using it to contact the school staff, but I am not wanting to make calls to families using my personal number. I will make sure I have access to one of the school telephones for the afternoon. ::adding that to my list:::

So yeah. I am all frazzled. Going to draw a little before bed. So I can relax a little.
