Something bit me on the left shoulder, right near the point of the bone on my upper arm. And the thing feels like a bruise, although there's no visible discoloration. It is a little bump, but it's in such an awkward place that I can't really see it. It made my arm ache a bit today, and is bothering me tonight, too. But I haven't had any ill effects from it, so I am guessing it's not going to make me sick at this point. I'll slap some cortisone cream on it when I go to bed tonight and hope that it will be gone in the morning. We do have a number of mean looking spiders in the house lately. Many more in the yard. I've started parking a little bit further from the landscaping etc because if I don't, they build webs between the car and the plants. And after I walk through a web I get to do the spider dance at 6 AM because it's not bad enough to have to leave the house at that ungodly hour.

I'm hot.
No, wait. I'm cold.
No. I'm hot.
I'm cold.
Sweaty. Hot flashes.
I cover up and uncover about 14 times a night. I wake up because I am uncomfortable. Doze back off, wake up, doze off, wake up... it's nuts.
It happens multiple times each day, too.
I don't even want to consider hormonal treatment, I think we've all heard the horror stories. Although it's inconvenient and bothersome and a real pain in the ass, it's just temperature fluctuations, right?
Gahhhh.

I can't find my necklace. The one I've been wearing for almost four years. On the chain are charms for Matt and Lyssa. I added one for Amy last year. There's also a little ring on it with a black diamond. Eric bought it for me in Ouray, Colorado the day we decided to get married. July 4th, 1980.
While Bob was here, I remember rushing into my room to change my shirt when we were getting ready to go somewhere. I distinctly remember taking the necklace off and putting it somewhere, but I don't remember where. It's bothering the hell out of me. I can replace it, and can replace the charms, too. But I can't replace the ring Eric gave to me. I was on the verge of ordering a new one last week, but I have decided to wait a bit and hope it turns up.
::sigh::

The weather is changing. I wish for a few more weeks of mild fall temperatures so I can take the kids outdoors, but I am guessing we're just about at the end of Mother Nature's indulgence and getting perilously close to the rainy season. Which is closely followed by mud season. All wrapped up in wind.
I hate the heat, of course. So I am glad for the cooler temps, especially at night. But I would love to have just a little more time...

It seems that things are going faster and faster as I get older. So often I want to yell, "STOP!!" and just... rest. Stop with the crazy running around. I am always home just long enough to mess things up. Same for work. Just long enough to mess things up. It's a pain in the ass.
Anyway, that's most of what's in my brain. I have more, but I need to get a shower before bed. 58 hot flashes* a day does that to a girl.
* that may be a slight exaggeration
Hang in there, Ami! The hot flashes will soon be past, and if you haven't taken HRT, good for you. I took some for about a year into menopause (what a joke that name is!). Anyway, I hated the way my body reacted to the pills, so I just quit them, and lived through the rough times. Now, the only thing that bothers me is pain in my feet when I go to bed, and lace of energy. Ah, the blessings of growing old!
ReplyDeleteOld? Naw. I'm fond of telling my mother that 'old' is 95. When she's 95, she will be old. Right now, at 75, she isn't. ;)
Deletehello, fellow sufferer! I decided to go on HRT after the symptoms made my life unbearable. Asked 1° care doc about the negatives of doing so. She said the horror stories- heart attacks- were from doctors putting POST menopausal women on hormones. Doc said if they survived the 1st 6 weeks they were good. But you and I are not 10 years post menopause, and the hormones absolutely saved my sanity, probably my dear husband's too. The horror stories are old and inaccurate, and I'd hate to have you suffering if you don't need to. Plus, the generics are far less expensive than Prempro depending on your insurance coverage. Ellen
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't checked into it too much, figuring that 'if it doesn't get worse than this, I will be fine'. So far, that's how I'm getting through it. If it gets where I am feeling insane(r) then I will definitely talk to doc. It seems to me the insanity started about 4 years ago, and coincided with all the horrendous surgeries and fucking asshole doctors/lawyers/assorted fuckwads who didn't really give a shit as long as they got their cut. And now that most of that crap is over, I'm feeling better anyway. Except my fucking knee hurts. All. The. Time.
DeleteI hope you find your necklace! That'd drive me nuts too!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for the weather to just get consistent. The days are warm and by night time, we are freezing! Of course, being consistent means months of rainy gloominess so I'd better be careful what I wish for!
The necklace is super important to me. I'm saving up for another one, or one similar, I am thinking maybe if I order a different kind, then the one I lost still may turn up. Anyway, saving five bucks here and there. It adds up eventually. :)
DeleteYep. Rainy season and muddy season. And brrrr season.
Just wait! The days are going to go even faster. ISYN!
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I bother to get dressed. ;0)
(((hugs)))
You get dressed because 'God didn't have good sense' according to my grandma Fern. 'He wasn't thinking, that's all.'
DeleteSo sayeth the Fern. So believes the Mental.
I would be totally consumed with the necklace and finding it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI keep searching. Looking in places I've looked 10 times already. It's really bothering me. ::sigh::::
DeleteYou said “but I am old” in a comment on somebody’s blog. You’re joking, yes?
ReplyDeleteWhen you forget which blog you read 1 minute ago, that’s when you’re old.
apart from that, keep running.
I'm feeling old. Does that count? Thank you for stopping by, I followed you and WOW you have some beautiful photos on your blog!!!
DeleteHot flashes are a pain in the ass. I hope you find your necklace, hate to loose such a cherished keepsake. I too am wishing for a little more warm weather before the cold truely decends upon us.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I will count how many hot flashes I have in a day. Then I remember I don't fucking want to know!!!!
