Ah that roller coaster week....

It has seriously kicked my butt this week... all the upset and angst and sadness and hauling stuff out of my site because I wasn't going to leave ALL of it there.

I had planned to leave some of the things the kids love the most, though. The ping pong net and paddles (a long cafeteria table works great as a ping pong table), the little foosball table, the pool table... some of the books, the little doll houses and cars, the art/drawing books I have put on the art cart... those things were staying.

I knew that some of my kids would really be sad if I left them, and taking their favorite toys with me would just hurt them more. Not fair, the situation wasn't their fault at all, and hurting their feelings wasn't an option.

The things that I couldn't replace without huge personal expense (big bins of Legos, for example) would have come home with me by today had I not received the news that I get to keep my benefits after all.

So now I get to start taking things back to work. I have decided to make an effort to do some organizing, though, as long as all that stuff is here. I don't necessarily have to have all of it at work, it just needs to be available for me when I need it.

But the ups and downs of the week have really whapped me upside the head this evening. I have a migraine coming on... no, wait. It's here. Wrapped around my head like an octopus or something. Ughhhhhh.

I am exhausted and my brain is running at about half power.

So I am going to bed.

Life is good, and I am tired.

  1. Man, I feel you on the crappy ups and downs of freaking jobs. I gave my notice yesterday at Endless Engineering. I.Had.Had.Enough.

    1. I wish I could go back in time and walk out on a couple employers from the past. The things I know now that I didn't know then... ::sigh::

Hope your next gig is a better place for you. :)

  3. I am so sorry that your knee is bothering you, but it sounds like the day with Lyssa was worth it. Next time wrap it well before you set out - it might help.

I am SO very glad that they reconsidered and you will be getting your benefits. I wonder if the letter you sent had anything to do with it. You'll likely never know.

    Happy Mother's Day!!

    1. Well, I don't think my letter had anything to do with it. Most of us were fairly close to the mark, although we're not supposed to be. We're only supposed to be working 25 hours a week. But all those little minutes add up here and there. Thank goodness. They have set the bar pretty high, though. I think all of us would be willing to work a 40 hour week if we were allowed. Most of the people I work with truly love what they do.
And it was a nice day. I'm happy in life. :)
