I didn't kick the bucket...

But I definitely was attacked by it.

I have this little collapsible hand truck. Because we've been operating our program in the gym rather than the cafeteria, access to water and other things has been difficult for a few days. Which of course is wonderful during tie dye week.

So I brought a five gallon bucket, stuck it on the hand truck and hauled it to the other side of the playground and filled it from a hose.

Then I hauled it alllll the way back to the other side of the playground, dumped it over the soda ash in the soak tub, and went back for a refill.

And somehow... I really don't know how, that second full bucket slipped off the hand truck and in defiance of the laws of physics and nature and everything else, that whole five gallons of water splashed up my backside. My pants, my shirt and even the back of my HAIR got wet.

No. Not wet. Drenched. Soaked. Water was running down my legs from the back of my really long shorts and into my shoes for about 10 minutes, and it took a good three hours before everything was dry again.

Dafuq???

The weather hasn't been very hot, just pleasant, but the humidity level is horrendous and there hasn't been much of a breeze. So even though we've been working mostly in the shade, it's been sweaty work.

The wet clothes helped a little until they warmed to body temperature. Then, it was just working in a sauna.
Lovely.
Add to that the current troubles I've been having with hot flashes, and you have a recipe for one crabby bitch.

Also putting me on the crabby list? Feet hurt. Haven't started with the new orthotics yet, figuring that trying to break them in while spending an entire week dyeing with the kids wasn't a good idea, I decided to wait until the weekend.

But I'm seeing my doctor this coming week, and I was curious about how I'd do without my usual doses of aspirin during the work day.
She's told me more than once that aspirin is the best anti inflammatory there is. Know what? She's right.

I didn't take any aspirin until about 3:30 on Friday, and wow am I sorry. I mean seriously sorry. I can't take enough of it to catch up all at once. I limit myself to two every six to eight hours ordinarily, paying particular attention to taking it before a shift at work.

I'm shocked at how much difference it made to skip the aspirin, though. It was huge.

Ah well. Lesson learned.

  1. Dang a wet back side for hours. Somehow i manage to accomplish crazy shit like that too.

Asprin really? I've never used it for anti-inflammatory before. I'll have to try it. Just the regular dose or what?

Good luck with the new orthotics.

    1. Real aspirin (I use buffered) two tablets about every six to eight hours. Yes, that's a lot of aspirin. Doc says okay. Drink a lot of fluid.

      The aspirin really does help.

  2. I am nursing a foot injury myself... from the walk. So far they are still thinking it's just fatigued muscles, but I'm thinking an xray may be in order to rule out a stress fracture. :(

I manage to always defy the laws of logic and motion when ever something happens as well. It's a gift.

    1. I just finished spending most of the summer wearing a fracture boot. It wasn't fun to wear it, especially when it was hot out, but it worked so well. My foot had time to heal and I was still mobile.

      Good luck. :)

  3. Okay, I'm a wimp and being drenched in public would have been enough to send me straight into a meltdown. At least it wasn't freezing cold outside.

    1. Well, I work with kids. I have to be willing and able to laugh at myself and not take myself too seriously. And if it had been cold out, we wouldn't be tie dyeing. :)
