This morning, Jennifer* drew a picture on one of our really large (like 3 feet long by a couple feet wide) pieces of paper. I have a big roll of it in the back room for large inspirations.
The center of the paper was taken up by a very tall flower with a rainbow stem. At the bottom of the page, almost too small to see, were two stick figures, one wearing a dress.
I said, "That's a beautiful flower, Jennifer."
She smiled. Pointed to the little figures at the bottom.
"That's me and my uncle," she said, proudly.
Then, she leaned forward and lowered her tone confidentially.
"He's not from this country." she murmured.
"He's from Texas."
I now have to report that I utterly lost it. A huge bubble of laughter burst out of me and as I write this, I am giggling over it again.
Texas.
Hahahahaa.
Ha! Yeah, in Texas they still have most of their Constitutional rights! That girl doesn't know how smart she is!
ReplyDeleteMy left-leaning friends who live in Texas hate it there because of that. They think the government is out to make women die and take away all their rights. Sort of funny in a way, although I never laugh at them. I just roll my eyes and let it go. :)
DeleteThat's awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny because of her confidential tone. Sort of like embarrassment, but not quite. But she gave the impression that she didn't want to announce it too loudly.
DeleteHa! Texas IS another country to some.
ReplyDeleteIt is in some ways, really. My impression of Texas the few times we drove through was that it was hot. And flat. And hot. Really hot.
DeleteWell! That proves right there that the saying "Everything is bigger in Texas" is wrong! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat flower was pretty big....
Delete:0) THX for the grin on my face.
ReplyDelete(((hugs)))
:)
DeleteI giggled all day long about that one.
