bubbles

Know how things just sort of simmer in your brain?

That's what you get tonight, the bubbles released during the simmering from my brain.

Work comp. I had things explained to me better in a 10 minute phone call to someone the work comp insurer owes money to than I had explained over the past 2.5 years from my attorney.

Someone who spoke regular English instead of legalese. And she was very helpful. With a sense of humor.

More on that later. Like in a month. Or whatever.

Our summer program is full. We don't have room for more kids at all. Great for business, not so great for the regulars who put off registering for whatever reason. One of them was pissed off this afternoon about not getting his son registered yet. Not sure what's going to happen, I sure hate to have to turn kids away. :( Not that I have to be the one to do it, but yeah.

Jennifer changed clothes today. She wasn't wearing her crabby pants. Her birthday is coming up this weekend, and she had some gifts for the other kids in the program. She was very excited to hand them out. There were no tears this afternoon. I liked it.

Lyssa is leaving in a week to go spend a good deal of the summer with a friend in MO. She won't be back until mid-August.

Matt is moving out the 29th. And hopefully won't be back to live with us at all... aren't we supposed to boot them out of the nest and have them be self-supporting?

I'll miss both kids, of course.

But it will be sort of interesting to have NO children at home. Since of course we've had kids for the past 26 years.

If you're one of my local friends, you already know I don't like people to drop in on me unannounced. It's even more important now, since one or both of us may be naked and covered with peanut butter at any given time. :)

I got a mysterious phone call on my cell the other day. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it. The guy did not identify himself, just told me that I needed to call him TODAY and gave me an 800 number. Odd. The call came from a local number. So I called the local number to find out what it was. They did answer with a business name, but I can't remember what it was.

I said that someone had left me a message to call. And the woman who answered said, "Give me your name."

Um, no. I told her I had no idea who she was or what they wanted and wasn't about to give her my name or any other personal information if I didn't know who she was.

She asked me if I was (fill in a random woman's name here) and I said no. She wanted to know if I knew that person. No again. So she said they had a wrong number and sorry.

Collection agency. Those people can be total assholes.
Remind me to tell you a story sometime about the collection agency that called me during my last pregnancy.
Asshole.

I had a major reflux thing on Thursday night and slept for a total of about four hours. It didn't help that I ended up with a migraine around 10 PM and again today about 10 AM. Like bookends in time. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So the bubbles are what you're getting tonight... and it's 10 now, speaking of bookends... so I'm off to bed. After an extra dose of reflux medication. Do NOT want a repeat. UGHHHH.
  1. Interesting that you mention that strange call. I had a similar one not long ago and the guy on the line was the biggest asshole I've ever encountered. They were looking for someone with a similar name to mine, but it wasn't ME. Really pissed me off - so much that I told this dirtbag I wanted to speak to his supervisor. Gets me jacked up just thinking about it.
    1. It takes a special brand of asshole to go into that line of work. I can't even imagine. Ughhh.
      Did you talk to the supervisor?
    2. The asshole tried to tell me HE was the supervisor! I told him I seriously doubted that! And if that were the case he should be demoted - he says one moment and he disconnected me lol
    Peanut butter? Okay, now I know why you do so much laundry. :)
    1. You missed the 'naked' part. No laundry involved. :)
  3. I didn't have to boot mine out of the nest, they flew as fast as they could. Never, in a million years, did I EVER think one would be back, especially the one that did. (the most difficult one)
    Anyone that shows up at my house unannounced, will get my wrath. There's no excuse for it nowadays, with everyone having cell phones! AND I DON'T MEAN CALL ME FROM THE DRIVEWAY, EITHER, I need advance notice.
    1. I have to assume that someone has actually called you from the driveway by your tone. :-D
      I haven't booted Matt, though, he's getting married. Well, they're going to move in together first. My mother is secretly horrified, but ya know, both my brothers did the same, and they've both been married a really long time to the girls they moved in with.
      Me, I don't care. I just want him to be happy. And I really like his girlfriend. I think it's a great match.
  4. Does your center provide Early Bird Specials for returning customers? Like, if the center charges a registration fee, do repeat customers get a discount if they register by a certain date? If not, it might be something to consider (I know it's not YOUR call, but still). It might keep parents from getting peeved. (Okay, so not really...it's just my plan to keep everybody happy ;) )
    1. I'm not sure what constitutes giving away corporate secrets, which we're not supposed to do on social media, but we did provide some incentives for early registration for the summer and for the upcoming school year. It's just that some people put it off a little too long.
      oops.
    2. Don't go gettin' in trouble, now!
      And in the end, you need to do what you can do and if parents can't get it together, it's not your problem.
    3. Oh I won't be in trouble.
      And yes, I did what I could, promoted things to the best of my ability. Believe me, though, I totally understand procrastination, as I do it VERY well.
  5. If Matt reads this, he may never eat peanut butter again.
