Tami is coming to talk to my kids this week.
She's going to tell them about writing books, let them ask questions and get to know them a bit.
I want the visit to be successful... meaning that I spent a bit of time talking with my kids last week in preparation. We discussed being a good audience, respect for each other and for the person who is giving her time to us.
Evan raised his hand.
"Yes, Evan?"
"I want to know how you're so lucky to know such awesome people."
So I explained that Tami had originally called me about my Girl Scout troop for her daughter, and that we'd had an entertaining conversation and gotten to know each other over the years. That she's just a really nice person and good friend.
He listened patiently, and when I finished, he said, "That's good. But I meant 'how are you so lucky that you know ME'."
::snort::
Always making me laugh, that kid.
He's a 25 year old running around in a 10 year old's body, I swear. He comes up with the funniest stuff... and usually demonstrates a depth in thinking that only comes with maturity. I get a huge kick out of him.
I hope he's a good audience member!!
Sounds like a great future comedian. Funny line.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about coming in, my friend. It's the only time I get a glimpse of being a celebrity. Will there be paparazzi? Should I wear my sunglasses even though Portland has no sunshine at this time of year? I promise to autograph the books I give away. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's quite witty!
ReplyDeleteFunny kiddo! I bet you feel lucky to know him too
