And no one came.
That's what happened to me this evening. (Tuesday as I write, Wednesday as you read.)
I was to provide child care while the parent and teacher committee met, they're the PTC now instead of PTA... whatever.
I left my entire program set up, saying to myself, 'self, it's free advertising.'
I ate my cold dinner to go, ironed all the fuse bead projects my kids had done this afternoon, and looked at the clock. It was seven.
::sigh::
People were to show up between 6:30 and 6:40 with kids, I had an arrangement with the president to be there until seven.
So I put all my stuff away, made sure the iron was unplugged and the computer was put away...
And got home just a bit before 8. With a fever, sore feet, a stuffy nose and a crabby attitude.
Most of the time I love my job.
But I resent that I must offer my services in this way, and that the only time we get overtime is if we work more than a 40 hour week... doesn't matter if you work more than an 8 hour day.
And it pisses me off that I'm supposed to be back there at 6:15 on Wednesday morning. Because I'm tired and I don't feel good, dammit.
And there's no one to take my place.
However. On the good side. I learned this evening that the day care that's right next door to the school will be closing. That may boost my enrollments a bit. I would like that. :)
Taking aspirin. Going to bed.
:0( Screw em!

Time is precious and I hate to see it wasted. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOops, made an ugly mistake in my comment above... Am hoping your day is ok, and that you're ok.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you were stood up. I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteI am shocked! Our child care for PTA is usually full. LIKE FULL. And they are not really that good...
