Had a little guy who wasn't feeling well on Monday morning. I had to call his mom and let her know that he was sick, and that she needed to come get him. While I was getting him situated on a beanbag with a blanket, Alden* notified me that, "I think my milk is leaking."
Oh shit. Yeah, it was. A whole quart of milk had spilled in his lunchbox and in his backpack.
(an aside here... Ariana called it a packpack last year, this year she calls it a backback.)
So while I taking care of the sick kid, cleaning up a quart of milk for another kid and talking to kids who walk by on their way to breakfast (one of the kids who goes to school there but does not attend my program is the one who finally located the Hyoid bone.. or where it would be if it were included in the skeleton.) and all that, the phone rang. I ignored it. It went to voice mail. And then rang again. It was someone I didn't want to talk to, a co worker who shall remain nameless. But I'm sure if you've read here long, you know who it was. It wasn't even anything important, she just didn't want to talk to voice mail. So I told her I was swamped just then and would call her back.
So the mom came to pick up the little guy, I got Alden's lunch dried off and put it in a sack for him, put his backback (heehee) into a plastic bag and made it home after a run to the grocery store... still had time for a small nap before I went back to work in the afternoon.
And yes, I did return the phone call.
:)
My kids call them packpacks as well. I haven't corrected them cuz it's too cute! ( :
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how they all gang up on you at once, no? Kids and adults included.
