I had to talk about the whole catch and release thing I do at work, didn't I? Just had to.
That means that this morning, I had to collect not one but two big hairy eight legged monsters. I have a clear container I used, so the kids could get a good look. They thought it was great. I had to pretend I thought it was, too.
:::shiver:::
It's 90 friggin' degrees outside this week, why are the spiders coming indoors?? Eeek.
In other news, one of my new kids, Tim* was in another program at a different school for a few years. Just up the street. And he's now asked his mom to come a little later to pick him up from my program, telling her that he likes it there, that the kids are really nice, that I always have fun things for them to do, and that it's 'way better' than the other program.
I can't judge that, I didn't know the previous site director or how she ran things, but I do appreciate it when a child is enjoying the program enough to pass that information along to their parents. Love it even more when I get to hear about it, too.
Better than a raise, although I can't buy toothpaste with kudos...
You should get a bonus for drawing in new business!
ReplyDeleteKudos are great! I bet all the kids love your program, you do so much from the heart
ReplyDeleteRe: spiders
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave, brave girl. Would it have been so bad, really, to squish the damn things?
YAY for KUDOS!
ReplyDeleteSpiders- ICK!
90*'s I'd trade ya if I could :)
The spiders are coming inside to get out of the 90 degree temps.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it nice to hear you're doing something right!
Kudos are great, and raises are even better. A subtle "tell my boss" to the 'rents ... just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteSpiders are creepy, cold blooded and creepy. Kids love them I suppose. But I'd hold a spider squishing contest, if I were in your place. (No I wouldn't, really I wouldn't, cuz spiders eat even worse bugs.)
Last week, someone in our neighborhood pulled into her garage and noticed a flippin' tarantula crawling across her garage floor when she got out of the car! She flipped. Of course. Any sane woman would flip at that, wouldn't they? She had a neighbor come over and squish it, and while I might want to take my fear out on a tarantula and squish it, I think I probably would ask someone to do a catch and release far, far, FAR from my home instead of killing it. I don't know. I guess I'm imagining it flinging me over it's shoulder and stomping on me, if I raised my foot to it! I tend to pick on spiders I know I can handle on my own. :D
