Whatsa Motto?

"Nuttin! Whatsa motto with YOU?"

Of course I have a few mottoes.

#1:
Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things (unless it's part of #2).

#2:
Sleep in. Snuggle with your significant other. This is a gift.

#3:
Be ready for just about anything. (I don't like 'be prepared'... it's terse and clipped and doesn't expand enough to suit me... the old woman with 2,279 posts on this blog. My god.)

I usually AM ready for just about anything.
My 'organizational' skills have impressed the hell out of more than one friend.

I get an admiring, "You think of everything!" now and then.

Well, don't be impressed. It's not because I'm an incredible planner. It's a defense mechanism.
I do NOT like surprises.
I don't handle them well, they make me anxious.

And I wasn't ready today for regular events.

One of my coworkers who shall remain pseudonymed (Yes, that IS a word, Blogger, I just invented it) BRASHLEY... decided on our field trip to the local roller rink that she should put skates on.

I knew it was a bad idea. She's as big as I am. She fell. Got hurt. She will be okay.

I won't go into detail. The point of this post isn't to make her look bad. She doesn't need help with that.

The POINT is, I ended up staying late at work today to cover for her so she could go seek medical treatment.

And I hadn't eaten, planning to eat as soon as I got home around 3. I had a headache (which hit me at 3 AM, coincidentally... and I'd taken the medication to get rid of it but by 3 PM it was back and had brought its cousin.)

Work was fine, made it through the day of field tripping and rowdy kids okay, although the utter SHIT they played instead of music over the sound system at the skating rink would have probably killed an ordinary person.

Headache came back. Had nothing to eat. Was stuck at work.

Guess who's gonna make up a little care package and store it there for the rest of the summer?

Ugh.

Got home, showered and sat on my butt for the rest of the evening.

When I saw Dr. Dirtball last week, we talked about the increasing frequency of my headaches. Neither one of us is particularly alarmed, since they've always been tied to hormonal activity, and sonofabitch I am 51 years old and things are... changing. But the constant headaches and the current unpredictability of them is sort of a pain in the ass.

So in case you were worried about the headaches, please don't. And at least for now anyway, the migraine medication DOES work. And I get about 10 hours of relief before the headache comes back if it's coming back... sometimes, it actually goes away and stays gone for awhile.

The kids have been DYING to try Zentangle inspired art... and I can't wait to show them more. A lot of them have been working on their own, borrowing my pens and special paper.

I love seeing them develop the confidence to create and put their own ideas on paper.

Life is good. Brain sucks. Whatsa motto with YOU?

  1. I try to plan for everything, I don't like surprises. I don't have a spontaneous bone in my body.

    1. I used to BE spontaneous. I know what happened to change that, but it will never appear here. It's also the reason I HATE surprises, and am mostly scared shitless of medical providers until I know them well.

    1. I'm okay. The headaches suck, but the medication DOES work. It's not fun. But it's okay.

  4. Me too-- I don't like surprises either and usually spent time running in circles making sure things are all taken care of so nothing pops up that wasn't expected. Friends say I'm OCD but it works for me.

I sure hope your headache is knocked out and you're feeling good. It sounds like you have a fun group of kids to be creative with-- that's a nice plus.

    Hang in there, xo jj

Would love to roller skate again.

Glad your headaches are at least controllable w/meds. Sure sucks to feel like shit so often tho.

I don't care much for the unexpected either.

    1. It's funny how many people have that in common... the dislike for the unexpected. Makes me feel like I have comrades, at least, though. :)

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

My get up and go got up and went.

    Wish your headache would get up and go! {{hugs}}

    1. Aw, they're just headaches. I would love to be without them, of course, but things could definitely be worse. :)

Thank goodness for decent prescription coverage, I used to have to order from a Canadian pharmacy because I could not afford it in the US.
