What's *not* on my mind?

I've had a lot of 'alone time' today.

Eric and Matt took a hike and left me alone in the house from 7 am to about 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

I woke up at 5:30 in horrendous pain, though.

Of course. Because it was Saturday morning and the weekend and a migraine that makes one want to simultaneously toss cookies, cry, and crap is just the absolute best way to start a weekend, after all.

But that's why migraine pills exist.

If I get another headache this week, now that the hormone cascade SHOULD be over, I guess it's back to Dr. Dirtball to find out what the hell... 'cause there have been an awful lot of headaches lately. They're no different than my usual migraines in intensity or symptoms, the only thing that's unusual is the frequency.

I think it's because of hormonal activity, there are other things going on with me physically that lead me to believe the big M is approaching... so that's my hope.

So I took the medication and went back to bed until 9:30, and woke up with no headache. :) I also woke up and found that I'd drooled in my hair, my face was all smooshed up on the right side, and my left arm was completely numb. It was like a piece of wood. I was certain that I'd never be able to use it again. I had to pick it up with my right arm to move it. I massaged it until it started to tingle with the wakie uppies, then grimaced and swore at it for a few minutes until I had to get up or wet my pants.

I was dreaming about taking care of kids at a day camp just before that. One doesn't have to look too far to figure out why I so frequently dream about taking care of kids, huh? But I had an idea while I was dreaming that I thought might be a good one, so I may pursue it. If it pans out, I'll share.

I sat in front of my computer owlishly for awhile, reading the news headlines. As always a mixed bag of lies, half truths and complete fabrications. And that's just the sports stories. Ha.

'Oprah to interview Romneys', 'Long-dead Dog receives voter registration' 'Man takes lawn chair balloon flight', 'surfing goats', 'Bonnie and Clyde's guns to be auctioned', 'Olympic uniforms for US team made in China'... all of those stories made me glance at the clock to make sure I was correct about the time...and I was... half past give a shit.

But then, Tami stopped by with a lifetime supply of paper goods. She does that now and then, and I put it to use at work. The stuff I can't use goes to other people I work with or to Goodwill. I can't believe all the stuff she's brought over here to me. (Yes, she delivers, too.)

We visited a few minutes, talked about the plants growing in the front yard, I patted the dog and said hello to Mr. Tami. Always nice to see my friends.

Then I took Eric's paycheck to the credit union and deposited it.

Wandered to Craft Warehouse where I spent an hour or so looking at jewelry findings, beads, cording, and ideas for the future.

I spent money, too, which means that I must actually make something out of all the stuff I bought to justify spending it.

Like I don't have enough things to do that I'm not keeping up with.

During all this, I was by myself. My mind went in all directions, randomly. I thought about a million different things, came to no satisfactory conclusions about anything huge, and came home to an empty house.

Weird to be alone. Two years ago my family went to Looseyanna without me and I was mostly alone for 10 days. Novel and not really all that much fun for more than a day or so. The days were easier, but once it was dark outside and I was alone, not so enjoyable.

Eric and Matt came home from their hike and Matt went to bed. (He had worked all night.)

Eric and I did our weekly date to the grocery store. Fun. I was starving, though, so ended up buying things that looked good. Everything looked good.

I bought a pair of earrings, too. Pierced earrings. Something I don't wear because I've never found a pair that didn't make my earlobes swell up. But I thought it's been so long since I tried them that a miracle may have happened and they might work for me.

We'll see.

Talked to Lyssa this evening, too. We talk every night. She's still having a lot of fun with her friend, but is coming home at the end of the month, and I'm planning to take the day off so I can hang out with her on her first day back. Maybe even take off two days in a row, which would give me a four day weekend.

Unheard of.

Pretty soon I'm heading for bed and hoping that my mind will turn off, because it has been all over the place today.

I may be weird.

  1. It's a darn good thing I don't mind being alone, because I'm alone a lot. It's going to be really strange when hubby retires and I don't spend so much time by myself. I'm not sure what that will be like!

    1. I don't really mind it during the day. It's just... different, since I am so rarely alone anymore. I used to spend tons of time alone when I was a teen and newlywed. I like it, I like to read and do other things that wake up my imagination.

But it's not fun to be alone at night, I don't like it. I don't rest well, and I hear every little sound. I usually stay awake until I'm completely exhausted and end up sleeping half the next day.

  2. Weird? Just be glad you're not in the *holy f**k what is she going to do now* category. It's what I'm working myself into currently. Lol. Oh and I've had the dead arm thing. Kept telling my arm. Wake up. Move, move, move.. and then damn it all, it actually moved and smacked me right in the face. Truth.

    1. I had to use my right arm to move the left one. Excruciating. It's fine now, of course, but the last time that happened, I noticed a line on my fingernails about a month later. As if they'd died for a little while. Which of course they had.

      Weird.

  3. Home alone for me doesn't happen very often, but when it does it sure feels strange.

Ever had that weirdo paralized thing going on when you try to wake up? Happened to me a few times over the winter. Naping on the couch and I would sware I was awake but unable to move - tried moving and screaming to get some attention/help had some panic going on, then for some reason drift back to sleep? and then wake up normally.. Crazy shit..

Damn hormones.... Wish we could just flush them and be done.

    1. Eric has the sleep paralysis on occasion, but it's never happened to me. At least so far. Now watch, tonight will be the first time ever, thanks to the power of suggestion. :)

    1. I'm good. It's NOT fun, actually. But there are many many worse things in life. And I have medication to take care of it. Things could be so much worse.

  5. I LOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEE being all alone during the daytime, because it just almost never ever happens . . . but once it gets dark . . . I REALLY start missing my family. I like them home at night.

I'm glad your headache went away. I hope you don't wake up with one tomorrow.

  6. I also love being home alone but I don't think I could do 10 days of it. I will have a couple next month when my oldest goes to camp and the others go to Papa and Nana's for 2 nights.

And...we all know you're weird. But, love you in spite of it. Or, perhaps because of it. Hard to tell. ( :

    1. Find me just one person who isn't weird. Really. I bet you can't. :)

Home alone will be really weird for you... four times as weird than it is for me? :) No, I guess just twice as weird.

      But weird.
