Same hormones, different month

All that really means is that the migraine monster is lurking on my shoulder, talons buried in my right eye socket, my shoulder and my ear.

I still try to deny that I have a migraine, putting off taking the medication until it's unmistakeable... which means that sometimes I have a headache for an hour or two before I finally give in to the inevitable and take the pill.

After that, it takes about an hour for the monster's grip to loosen a bit. Sometimes it lets go completely for awhile, but usually it just relaxes some unless I follow the Sumatriptan with a narcotic chaser.

::sigh::

Which is what I'm gonna have to do tonight, because the monster is just sitting there, laughing at me.

So I did take some photos of the rest of the tie dyed stuff, and the camera was charged and I know where the cable is so I can add them to my computer.

I just don't feel like messing around with it.

Instead, I'm going to catch a shower before bed and hope the headache goes away enough that I get some good sleep tonight. Last full week of school. Nine more 5 AM mornings. Not that I'm counting. I'll miss my site, 'my' kids, and my routine, but I won't miss getting up at 5.

Feel free to leave me a comment about the worst headache you've ever had. This one doesn't even come anywhere close to my worst, for which I am quite grateful.

I'm looking forward to a busy week, have to get my site ready to close down for the summer, clean out the fridge etc... inventory...

So off to the shower. I'll feel sunburned everywhere the water touches, which is a side effect of the medication. But I'll be clean and relaxed and hopefully will sleep like a brick.

  1. Darn those migraines! I suffered from them with my last pregnancy and they were awful. Couldn't take meds to knock me out, because I had three other kids to take care of. They would make me so nauseous I would puke, but that usually made me feel a bit better. I don't get those anymore, just regular headaches that Advil can treat.

    Feel better!

    1. Correction... not that it matters, I had four kids at the time. Forgot I was fostering an infant, that was 30 years ago.

    2. I didn't know you'd done foster care.

Occasionally I have a child in my program who is in foster care. I always am sad to see them go, because I want to know someone is taking care of them and that they're going to be okay.

Did you do a lot of foster care? Was it difficult to say goodbye or did you end up adopting some or??? Tell me the story!

  5. I think it was while I was pregnant with Brennan. I couldn't lay down, I couldn't stand up, I couldn't sit down. It was like having a gong going off in my head all the time. It's always my left eye and pressure goes into my nose sometimes. I have these fairly often and seem to be more weather related, and sometimes hormone related. I have to take meds or I do get sick. So now, any time I get a headache, I take tylenol. If I can hang on until Matt gets home, then I leave him with the girls and go take a hot shower. for some reason, that seems to work REALLY well, sometimes better than laying down in the cool and quiet does. Also discovered that upping to THREE tylenol (1500 mg, jeez!) does seem to stop mine in their freaking tracks instead of having to take 1000 mg like 3 or 4 times in one day. Yes, they last all damn day, even with taking meds. Sometimes 2 days. Argh!

    1. Sounds like typical migraine. Have you asked your doctor for meds? Although you can't take migraine medication while nursing.

I had bad headaches when pg with Lyssa. Ugh.

  6. Well, I'm lucky enough to not suffer from migraines, but MY WIFE does and I know how much they suck. God bless you.

I've had a few bad headaches in my life, though. I can remember one from when I was about 10 or 11 that had me crying. And I may be in for some hideous ones in future, but I hope not. My Dad had cluster headaches for a while, and I've heard those are quite excruciating.

    1. I don't know if one would classify mine as cluster migraines or not. Usually takes three days for one to go completely away. For a month. Then I get another one. You can almost set your watch by 'em.
      Sucks.

  7. I won't tell you about the worst migraine I've ever had... but I will say that I have had to take my pain meds for my shoulder for the last week....

Thankfully I don't have to wake up at 5am... on these pills, I barely make it up at 730.

    Feel better.

    1. What did you do to your shoulder??

If I have to take a narcotic, I take it before 7 PM because I can't wake up early unless I do.

I don't like having to take them but I'm glad I have them available when needed. It's been a hell of a three years.
