When we have the time, we don't have any money.
And when we have a little money, we don't have any time.
Always too much month at the end of the money, ya know?
Today was the first day of a 4 day weekend for me. My alarm clock was set for 8:30!!
So I celebrated not having to get up at 5 by getting up about 4:45 to pee.
::sigh::
This was okay, that way I avoided wetting the bed. (We all know there are some wet spots that are more socially acceptable than others.)
I went back to bed.
And the little hamster got on the wheel and started running around inside my brain. I hate that little bastard. I really do. But I don't know how to keep him from being the obnoxious little shit that he is. When he starts running, there's not a lot I can do to stop him.
So while Eric was getting ready for work, I got up, too. Put on pajama pants and slippers and a jacket and sat here at the table while he got ready for work. We had some conversation, then he went into the living room to catch the headlines and I listened to him talking back to the reporters on the news, something he does daily. He's pretty funny, and it always makes me laugh to hear the stuff he says.
He points out to them how stupid they sound, he makes fun of them for being "LIVE!! Where something happened YESTERDAY!!"
Or..
"Live!! Where something will happen nine hours from now!!!"
"Mobile newsroom? Guys! It's a fuckin' van!!"
They never listen to him, though.
And they repeat the horrendous stupid every single weekday morning.
Good entertainment for me.
I smile all the way to work most mornings.
After he left for work, I put my flax seed filled packs in the microwave, heated them up nicely and took them back to bed with me.
I could have slept until noon except I had an
appointment with Dr. Dirtball at 10. I have this weird moley thing on my
right leg that I wanted her to take a look at.
I got up about 8:30 and had a warm itchy spot on my left bazoom... put on my whisker glasses and took a look. Two itty bitty little fang marks in the center of a red spot about the size of a dime. Shit. Tagged by a spider.
It's really not fair, I always put spiders outside when I find them, rather than smashing them. I don't let 'my' kids kill them, either, instead rescuing them and releasing them outdoors. So why did one bite me? I guess my reputation isn't as stellar as I thought.
Figures. But I didn't feel sick or feverish or achy or anything, so I put some cortisone on it after my shower and dismissed it from my universe.
Dr. Dirtball looked at my leg for me. She explained that there are certain signs one looks for if a mole has become something scary, and this one only had one sign, the dry, ashy appearance/feel. So she measured it and will check it every time I go see her. Unless it starts to grow or bother me, she says it's a perfectly normal thing. There was even a name for it, but don't ask me what the hell it was. My memory isn't that long.
I've been seeing my doctor a long time though, and she knows me. So she said, "Unless you're lying awake at night and thinking you're dying... then we'll do a biopsy."
I'll try not to do that.
I took Lyssa to JoAnn for some fabric to make the latest thing that has grown in her imagination. (Remember the dragon
?) I'll post photos when she's done with her latest idea.
There was this big assed wire bin out front full of little bird houses. I raided it last year about this time for 'my' kids. And damned if I didn't do it again. 25 of them. Buck apiece. But they had so much fun with them before... I'll put them away for a day when I want to let them drag out paint and make a mess. One of my supply orders this year was a bunch of paint bottles with the brushes built right in. I haven't tried them with acrylic paint yet, it might work.
So I had this whole day and didn't do a single load of laundry or clean the bathroom or recycle the papers that are still on my table. I... relaxed.
I then called in eight hours of vacation time.
And I don't feel like I wasted even one second of my day.
:)
Like you...I grab a tissue and do the same "spider" thing. ;0) Crickets and Lady Bugs get my "bare hand" treatment. :0)
ReplyDeleteFINALLY I have learned to tune out the "real hampster/flying squirrel wheel in the cage in my bedroom and do much better on my own "wheel" now that I am retired. There is "HOPE" for you....down the road.
My hubby does the same TV thing,EXCEPT when I am out of the room, I think he is talking to me and get ticked when i run to see what he wants. Sorry to be the bearer of "bad news", BUT the hearing starts to go at a certain age. ;0) (((hugs)))Pat
I think my brain just isn't happy unless it has something to obsess over. One time eons ago, I had crossed everything off my list, so to speak, and had nothing else going on for awhile. And I realized as I was lying in bed that my brain was actively searching for something to worry over! How fucked up is that?
DeleteYeah, we do the 'WHAT?' thing here... one of us in the other room talking, don't know if we're talking to each other or just to the TV or to ourselves... lots of yelling around here... 'WHAAAATT???'
lol
Well it's not a week in Hawaii, but a day of down-time is still good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteA week in Hawaii would stress me out. I don't like to fly. I don't like being away from home. I don't have a bathing suit body.
DeleteDown time is much more my speed. Gonna spend some time dyeing this afternoon.
Happiness.
We could have had a very nice vacation for the amount it just cost us to get a new roof and add a porte cochere. (carport) Hopefully the roof and addition will last much longer.
ReplyDeleteI do NOT rescue spiders. Hubby got bit and had to have surgery, so spiders are on my *hit list! No thanks. If they have the nerve to be in my house, they better not let me find them, or they get my flip flop, with a quickness.
Enjoy your weekend!
We don't have any spiders to be afraid of here. Well, that's not exactly true, but it's pretty rare for a black widow or hobo spider to be found indoors. And I would smash either one of those, because they are harmful to humans.
DeleteMost spiders are harmless and just trying to make a living. I am sure I rolled over or otherwise scared the spider as it was trundling across my boob, otherwise I would not have been bitten since I'm not traditional spider food. :)
calling in the 8 hours of vacation time after spending a whole day messing around... priceless.
We never match up correctly here, either. Money/Time/Energy/Not Pouring Down Rain So We Can Do Yard Work. That's probably why our place looks like crap! ( :
ReplyDeleteI have such bad reactions to even the tiniest insect bites that spiders don't usually live long once I find them. In the house. If they are outside, I just stay clear.
Do you react to mosquitos? Both my kids have SERIOUS huge reactions to them, we're talking the size of a 50 cent piece. I used to worry when Lyssa was little that someone would see the welts on her and think I had hurt her, they were that bad.
DeleteAs the kids have gotten older, they're not quite as reactive, but still way worse than anyone I know.
And I smash mosquitoes quite cheerfully.
Don't worry about your place looking like crap.. you have four kids and a pony. Er, puppy.
Don't you think it's about time to update us on your blog with a puppy pic?
I'm now starting to work mornings on a regular basis. I'm going to enjoy my sleep on my days off
ReplyDeleteSleep well, here's wishing you no spiders.
Delete:)
