It's a tough job...

But someone has to do it.

I had to sit outside with 'my' kids for nearly two hours on Tuesday while they played. It was about 65 degrees or so, a little breeze, sunshine... perfect.

So we had snacks and went out to play. I kept them out until I HAD to get in and put things away and set up for morning.

On Monday evening, I planned to get to bed early so I wouldn't need to nap on Tuesday morning. I can get more done when I'm not taking a nap, ya know?

I did, too. Got in bed on time. And that little shit hamster started running on the wheel in the middle of my brain. The last time I looked at the clock it was about 10:45. ::sigh::

Then, I finally fell asleep, only to have to get up at 12:20 or so and pee. And again around 2:00. (hormones... damn hormones...)

And woke up for good a little after four.

So when I got home a little after nine, I was sleepy and knew I wouldn't be worth a damn all afternoon if I didn't sleep.

And sleep I did. THREE hours. A three hour nap!! Holy cow, I'm in my 2nd childhood! Then I had a hard time waking up from the nap and shuffled around like a zombie while I was getting ready to go back to work. I had to wash my hair again, it was all sticky-upped on one side and I drooled in it on the other side. Not the face I want to present to the world. ;)

So remember my
goddamn shoes ? They creak.
And Tuesday afternoon I was sitting at a table with Lacey* and Ella, her cousin.
Moved my feet and the left heel creaked.

Lacey looked at Ella and said, "Gross! You farted!"

Ella said, "I did NOT!!!"

Lacey laughed incredulously. "Yes you did!! I HEARD you!!"

Ella was pissed off. "I did NOT!!!"

And I put a stop to the argument by proving to them it was my shoes. Which they found hysterically funny. And for the last 20 minutes or so they were there, they both just stopped talking every time I got up to walk, then fell into uncontrollable giggles every time I did.

Entertaining for us all.

Yep, it's a tough job.

  1. I've got a couple of pairs of noisy shoes. One farts and one has an odd pop in the heel. If they weren't comfortable, I'd throw them in the dang trash.

    1. I'm ready to look it up on Google and see if there's anything to be done, but it will have to wait, I have to head for work in about 2 minutes.

And yeah, I've reached the mythical age of comfort... where I literally do not give a shit if it looks good as long as it feels good and doesn't stink.

    1. I laugh there every single day. One reason the job brings me so much happiness. :)

  4. I miss the old recess days. In kindergarten the teachers set up this pretty big water-recess event. Sure it was no water park but for our age we knew no better.

  5. I volunteered for field day today... so much blog fodder and not a pen and paper in sight. :)
