Oh BOY! I've got Bob's* bug!!!

Have you seen some of the A to Z blogs/bloggers?

For the month of April, the idea is to take one letter of the alphabet for each day.

Writing prompts. I usually don't need one, because getting me to shut up is a much bigger challenge than my figuring out what to say.

So I haven't participated, and probably won't.

But it occurred to me this morning (Monday) that today is technically B day.

Then, it occurred to me as I was absently blowing my tickly and itchy beezer for the bajillionth time that I've got Bob's bug!

Beautiful! I will not call his mom anything that starts with B, although the obvious is certainly in the front of my brain.

But the alliteration of Bob's Bug just begs me to go with it... look up B words! Did you know you can do that online?

For whatever reason, Bob's mom thought her job was more important than taking care of her sick child and she sent him to Mental's Babysitting Emporioum.

Hm.
Bob's mom...
Bejeweled? No.
Bothersome? Oh yes.
Brazen? Brash?

So I'm starting back to work with a stuffy nose, a mild fever, or at least it's mild as I type this, who knows what will happen while I'm sleeping, and muscle aches.

Bullshit.

B is also for back. As in back to MY site after the break.

Let's dispense with the bold, shall we?

I've missed being there, although I always have a good time at the break programs. It's just easier for me to be where the kids are all a known quantity. We do have some behavior issues and quirks, but they're familiar to me and most of the time are easy to deal with.

The company I work for provides everything we need for the break activities, and we supplement from our own supplies as well as supplies from the host site. It's not that we have to, because there is enough 'stuff' but I think our strength in this area is that all of us have been doing this long enough to bring our own individual touch to the program and make sure the kids have more than enough things to do. Always better to have more activities than what you have time for. Keeps kids from bouncing off the walls as much, although they still do it... they're children.

I have to admit being glad that my site is further from the center of town than most. It means that I won't ever be asked to host a break program, because parents won't want to drive so far out of their way to leave their children for the day. About half the stuff out there at my site is my stuff personally, and although my intention is for the kids to use it, I hate waste.

Sometimes stuff gets wasted even under my watch, but nothing like it does at a break program when we have a bunch of kids who aren't used to specific rules.

And I'm pretty sure that none of the parents in my program would medicate a child's fever so he could come for a day and make everyone around him ill for the next week or so.

Grr.
