Bought some glass votive holders at Goodwill in late October/early November. They were going to be a holiday thing but we just ended up with not enough time to get them done, and they sat in the back room with the little LED tealights I got from sprawlmart to go with them.
So I decided Wednesday would be a good day to do the project. I discovered when making my wood cookie necklace for summer program that if you use water color markers on a coffee filter, spray with a water mist, then decoupage it, after it dries, it becomes transparent.
I think we've all seen the torn tissue paper covering glass vases or bottles or what not, but it's really a pain in the ass to do that. Little fingers with tissue paper and glue get frustrated.
So we used coffee filters. First, we cut them in a cross shape. Then, the kids colored them with washable markers. (Important for them to be washable)
I set them on a couple paper towels, misted them with a little water from a spray bottle and we let them dry. Then, the kids put some white glue on the sides of the votive holder, folded up the arms of the cross and left them sitting.
While they were reading, I did the decoupage. Turned on the fan and let them dry a bit. Everyone who chose to make the project was able to take them home.
I don't have room in that back room to store projects that need to dry. So I'm glad it worked out the way it did.
Tomorrow (or rather today) an oldie... soda straw weaving. I'll try to remember to take a photo or two.
And I did not sleep for shit last night. And did not nap today (Wednesday.)
So I know that going to bed NOW is a good idea, and that's what I'm doing.
Right after I try on the black pants I bought. It's probably a good idea to make sure they fit before I'm dressing for the hearing.
Nite.
Wishing you good sleep and a good outcome on the hearing! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a restful night beofre the hearing and that all goes well on Friday. Sending good thoughts your way!
